QuenchSA is an independent South African Lifestyle And Entertainment website. We are focused on creating a solid platform rich in original lifestyle content that will add something new in the lives of our readers.
Founded in 2013 at Wits Library lawns and established later that year, our online publication aims to build a trusted platform for the local creative industry, as well as a space for refreshing insights delivered to the African youth.
Our focus is in creating original content that will not only influence and define the culture, but also create an authentic environment in which lifestyle content caters for the unique worlds of young Africans from different walks of life.
We’ve got a long way to go until such complex topics as social anxiety can be readily available and reflective of our demographics, and QuenchSA is here to build a new ecosystem in which being young and African has a place to to take up the space.
We believe the space can be elevated through dope content, good journalism, pure creativity and a passion to transform the local entertainment landscape.
In 2013, Sipho Ntombela had the idea to create an online platform that will ensure African pop culture will never be lost again. Pursuing his Honours in Media Studies at Wits University at the time, he put some of his ideas in action when he started a blog which focused on celebrity and music news.
Having worked for and with some the coolest youth brands, such as Channel O, VUZU AMP, V-Entertainment, and globally celebrated events such as the Global Citizen Concert South Africa, MTV Africa Music Awards and many others, he’s spent the last 5 years nurturing the brand.
We deliver lifestyle content across a wide spectrum that has remained unattended to. With the intention to inform and uplift in an authentic and young voice, we also include such content pillars as Health and Tech, and are focused on growing as a reliable and relatable source for these topics for African audiences.
