Vuzu Axed as Multichoice Launches New Channel

And it ends with a beginning.



Multichoice has announced the shutting down of Vuzu and M-Net City 115 to make way for the launch of brand channel Me on 1 November 2021. These channels are being merged to create one space housing the key shows.

The channel is targeted at DStv Family and DStv Compact viewers but will also be available to DStv Premium and DStv Compact Plus audiences. These are being merged to create one channel housing

“We’re changing the way we package content and creating a single, extensive, well-curated destination. Me will give our viewers and subscribers a multifaceted, competitive channel offering, and we’re pleased to offer the best international entertainment in one place,” says Yolisa Phahle, CEO of General Entertainment for Multichoice Group.

M-Net City 115 was launched as a channel where viewers can catch up on the latest and best international series, while Vuzu 116 has always been the true voice of an edgier African youth. Me will feature the best of both its predecessors, while establishing a new identity strategically crafted with the discerning audience in mind.

Me is a destination for primarily the 18 to 34-year-old market, and, in addition to international scripted content, it will feature lifestyle shows and celebrity content that has been previously broadcast on M-Net Channel 101 and 1Magic. “Me is taking us in an exciting direction that speaks to the multiplatform world we live in and further sharpens our aim to give our subscribers content that they connect with,” concludes Phahle.

Me will launch with daily episodes of The Rookie, NCIS: New Orleans, Survivor Australia and Young Sheldon from 17:00 to 20:00. From 20:30 you can join Me for a mix of local and international series like Lioness, Prodigal Son, All American and 911The Real Housewives (starting with The Real Housewives of Atlanta) will bring the drama every weekday at 21:30, leading us to our late-night slot. 22:30 is when you can get a little dark with Me as this slot will have acclaimed international dramas and thrillers like Godfather of Harlem, Clarice and Flight Attendant.

On weekends, it’s Me-time. Start Friday evening with The Bachelorette SA or a movie. Saturdays and Sunday are filled with gameshows, talent shows and reality shows like Beat Shazam, American Idol and Growing Up Hip Hop. Sunday evening at 20:00, will feature acclaimed dramas such as Queen Sugar.

M-Net City (DStv channel 115) and Vuzu (DStv channel 116) will officially close on Friday, 29 October. Me (DStv channel 115) will launch on Monday, 1 November at 16:00.

How to Watch the BET Hip Hop Awards 2021

Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Jay Z and more walked away with big wins.



This year the 2021 BET “Hip Hop Awards” brought the hottest names in Hip Hop back to Atlanta, GA for the annual show. The awards, which was broadcast on BET Africa (DStv Channel 129, GOtv Channel 21) was hosted by comedy supergroup, 85 South (Karlous Miller, DC Young Fly, and Chico Bean).

The iconic HIP HOP Awards will repeat this Saturday 9 October at 19:00 WAT / 20:00 CAT and again on Sunday 10 October at 10:30 WAT / 11:30 CAT, exclusively on BET Africa DStv Channel 129, GOtv Channel 21).

WAP artists, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion ruled the night by jointly snagging three wins each including ‘Song of the Year,’ ‘Best Hip Hop Video’ and ‘Best Collaboration’ for their smash hit “WAP.” Tyler The Creator took home two wins for ‘Hip Hop Album of the Year’ and ‘Best Live Performer’ in addition to his “Rock the Bells Cultural Influence Award” presented by LL Cool J. Jay Z scored double wins in the “Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse” and “Impact Track” for his Nipsey Hussle collaboration “What It Feels Like.”

Newcomer, Yung Bleu, was crowned ‘Best New Hip Hop Artist’ while rap sensation Saweetie took home ‘Hustler of the Year.” Music icon, Missy Elliott, was voted ‘Video Director of the Year’ and ‘Lyricist of the Year’ went to J. Cole while UK rapper Little Simz took home the ‘Best International Flow’ award.

Young Thug kicked off the night with an explosive performance of “Tick Tock”, followed by Gunna with “Too Easy” before coming together with their hit collaboration “Ski.”  Hot new rapper, Bia, performed her smash single “Whole Lotta Money,” then brought out Atlanta icon Lil Jon for “Bia Bia” to close it out. Baby Keem made his award show debut with “Family Ties.”

Hip Hop sensation Latto brought the house down with a sparkling, high energy performance of “SoufSide” and new song “Big Energy” while Nigerian- American rapper, Tobe Nwigwe made it a family affair with Fat & Nell on their song “Fye Fye.” Isaiah Rashad performed alongside Doechii & Kal Banx for “Wat U Sed” before ending the set with his solo single “From the Garden.”

The hotly anticipated cyphers were hosted by DJ Hed and featured a bevy of emcees dropping hot sixteens including Grip, D Smoke, Smino, Tierra Whack, Rico Nasty, Sleepy Hallow, Erica Banks, Fivio Foreign, Toosii, Lakeyah, Kidd Kenn and Symba.

Trina, Remy Ma, and Rapsody were the presenters for the evening. “I Am Hip Hop Award” recipient Nelly closed out the show with a performance of his greatest hits including “Country Grammar,” “Hot In Herre,” “Air Force Ones,” “Dilemma,” “Grillz” with an appearance by Paul Wall and more.

The ‘BET Hip Hop Awards’ aired on BET Africa (DStv Channel 129, GOtv Channel 21) on Wednesday 6 October, at 02:00 WAT / 03:00 CAT. It will repeat this Saturday 9 October at 19:00 WAT / 20:00 CAT and again on Sunday 10 October at 10:30 WAT / 11:30 CAT.

Legacy October 2021 Teasers – What to Expect this Month

Felicity and Dineo form an uneasy alliance after a fateful encounter results in them being responsible for a crime. Sims and Stefan bond and find a positive way forward through adversity. Angelique begins defensive manoeuvres while Robbie ponders his next step.


Will Felicity and Dineo be able to forget their differences and deal with the new, murderous bond that ties them together? Sims and Stefan’s friendship is gearing up to be dangerous and hi-octane. Will both of them
come out the other end in one piece?


Dineo welcomes Sefako to Legacy, but then worries that he’ll be implicated in the murder investigation. Robbie says he’s Jerry’s son and Jerry said money was the root of all evil. But then he realises the pub is in real financial trouble – Jerry had his head in the sand. Felicity meets Marco, and it gets hot, fast. Sims pitches a business idea to Lexi, and Lexi hauls him off to bed.


Lexi makes a decision regarding her investment in Sims and Stefan’s new company. Angelique is on the war path of the new family threatening to uproot the Price fortune.


Marco starts to dig around at Legacy. What will he find out? Angelique’s latest move against the Hugo’s has the opposite effect she intended. It spurs Robbie’s fury and determination instead of scaring him off.


Angelique makes Robbie an offer that will change all their lives. Marco reveals a shocking reason for his interest in Darren’s disappearance.


As Dineo dodges a determined detective, Felicity falls deeper in love with her mystery fling. Neither knows it’s the same man! Robbie squares up to take the fight to the Prices, and stake his claim as the prodigal son.


Robbie has a tough decision to make between what he wants and what could help his family. Sims and Stefan are met with unforeseen challenges on the day of their pitch.


Angelique swears to take revenge on her new enemy. Felicity’s new love life is in jeopardy because of unexpected circumstances.


Felicity comes face to face with another truth that makes it all the more difficult for her to be with Marco while Dineo opens up to someone close. A new discovery throws a spanner in Robbie’s little bubble.


Dineo tells Felicity to break-up with Marco. But Marco has a startling admission for Felicity. As Brightside takes off, sims tests Lexi’s affections… And is disappointed with her response. Angelique’s counterattack leaves the Hugo family cornered. Will they lose everything in pursuit of price recognition?


Just as Robbie thinks all is lost for his family, Elizabeth arrives opens a beautiful door of opportunity. Sims changes his mind and comes clean to Lexi about his feelings for her. Her reaction leaves him floored. Felicity convinces Dineo she can be with Marco, they are out of the woods, but suddenly a clue comes to the surface.


Can Felicity split her loyalty between the man she has feelings for and her family? Elizabeth goes behind Angelique’s back to find out if Robbie is telling the truth.


Lexi makes a difficult admission to Gordon. Elizabeth visits the Hugos, and things get awkward…


Felicity supports Marco through the ordeal of his brother’s funeral, much to Dineo’s concern. Elizabeth and Robbie feel certain that they are siblings. There’s plenty of unresolved emotions between Lexi and Sims.


Robbie navigates the aftermath of the negative DNA test results and finds it difficult to face his mother. Felicity and Dineo desperately try to remain calm as Detective Marco Andino finds out about a mysterious lead around Darren’s death.
