On Thursday night (18 March, at 19:30), the drama never stopped on an event-filled Bachelorette South Africa episode six. With twelve men left, the mansion is starting to resemble a pressure cooker as the stakes get higher.
The episode was filled with entertaining group games and awkward group dates that only added to the growing tension. Qiniso is a woman who knows what she wants, but she is beginning to show how this journey is affecting her, and the men needed to step up their game to show her that they are worth it.
To add a little bit more spice into the pressure cooker of a mansion, the fabled “Wild Rose” has been introduced.
THE BACHELORETTE SA S1 Ep 6 HIGHLIGHTS:
Dylan’s one-on-one tea date
Dylan surprised everyone by getting a one-on-one date with Qiniso. They went on a tea and sushi date, which seemed to go well and they connected even further. Qiniso did make Dylan aware of her annoyance with Cameron and his pool antics at the previous cocktail party. Dylan then tried to explain himself, to the men’s relief, he did not receive a rose and told the men that he was “scolded”.
Something that came back to bite him.
The Lottostar Bachelorette Schoolyard Games
It was fun and games for Vuyani, Cameron, Ruan, Gareth, Aviwe, Keelan, Justin, and Henk (Swazi). Jason and Qiniso had set up a series of primary school games for the guys. The gents were split into two teams and had to compete in the sack race, the egg and spoon race, wheelbarrows, bobbing for apples, and the leapfrog.
The team of Vuyani, Gareth, Ruan and Keelan won a very close contest to go on a group date with Qiniso.
The Awkward group date
Vuyani, Gareth, Ruan and Keelan went on a group date with Qiniso, but things did not go as planned, as the mood was very sombre and low. And after Ruan tactlessly but not maliciously brought up that Dylan felt punished for his actions by not getting a rose, Qiniso broke down.
For the first time, the men saw how the stress of the process was affecting Q and it drove home how important it was for her and them. But there was a light at the end of the tunnel and Vunayi got a rose for being more open and showing growth, and they had a moment watching the sunset together.
The crazy cocktail party
So much went down in this cocktail party. In the build-up to it, Peter was feeling vulnerable as he was not part of the group date, Keelan seems to be struggling with the process and Franco is still struggling to find time with South Africa’s queen.
The cocktail party started with a lot of tense energy in the air with so many men feeling unsafe. And this was made even worse with Jason introducing, “The Wild Rose”. Everyone seemed to sense that something was going to happen.
Kganya took Qiniso for some alone time but was interrupted by Peter during an intermit moment, this led to Kganya asking for a rushed kiss which led to a very awkward, but sweet kiss, in true Kganya fashion. Peter tries to reassure himself that things are fine with Qiniso, but he, unfortunately, didn’t do himself any favours.
Cameron expressed his remorse for his actions and that he understands Qiniso, and after Ruan told Qiniso what Dylan had said, Dylan pulled her aside to explain himself.
In the background of all this, Keelan was growing increasingly tense and paranoid making everyone worried for him and on edge, but to make matters worse, Swazi was pulled aside by Q who had then given him the Wild Rose.
The game is on, as the stakes grow higher in the mansion as no one left this week. However many of the men are not safe, as the blockbuster cocktail party spills over into episode seven.
The Bachelorette South Africa airs Thursdays at 19:30 on M-Net, DStv channel 101.

In the first season, 14 singles were tasked with resisting the temptation of dating the houseguests. With most challenges in the no-dating-show involving shirtless heartthrobs and scantily clad ladies, everyone had their work cutout for them.
Some of the rules of engagement involved no kissing, no self-gratification or any kind of hanky-panky. Failure to heed these rule will see the contestants lose out on cashing in the $100,000 prize.
This time around, Netflix will premiere the first four episodes on June 23, while the remaining six episodes will go live on June 30.

The Bachelorette SA Qiniso Chooses Gareth
Deets on everything that unfolded at The Bachelorette SA Finale
For weeks on end, fans of The Bachelorette South Africa were kept in the dark about which potential suitor stole Qiniso Van Damme’s heart. The choice was simple, pick between Henk (Swazi) Nel and Gareth Ehret to sail off into the sunset. For one, the fairy-tale ending was about to commence, while for the other, weeks of courting would’ve amounted to nothing.
That’s the name of the game!
In the end, The Bachelorette handed the final rose to Gareth. The 27 year old digital marketer, in return, gave her a beautiful Jack Friedman ring as a symbol of his love and commitment. The finale was an emotional rollercoaster for viewers of the reality show. One could only imagine the emotional toll that the entire season was for the bachelorette.

Before she took her decision, Qiniso went on final dates with both men and each had the chance to meet Qiniso’s family, which consisted of her sister, brother and mother. After some intense and fun conversations, it seemed that some of the family had really taken a liking to Swazi, but they stated that the final decision would rest with her.
Unfortunately for 29-year-old cricketer Swazi, his journey with Qiniso came to an end. Swazi walked up the stairs of Pezula’s castle and poured out his heart with a ring in hand. Qiniso reminisced about how he was the first man out of the limo and how they had grown so much together throughout the show, but she could not accept his ring.
After making what she calls the hardest decision of her life, a tearful Qiniso was consoled by a sad but stoic Swazi, who said she had made the right decision for her.
Fortuned seemed to have favoured Gareth. He reminisced about his time in the mansion and how his feeling grew every time he saw her. He went on to say that he has never connected with someone on the same level that he connects with her and that he loves her.
He then presented her with a ring as a symbol of their future. Qiniso expressed her gratitude for all he had sacrificed and that she too was in love with him, as she accepted his ring saying, “I can not…see my life without you.” She then handed Gareth the final rose.
While we were happy that Qiniso finally got her happy-ever-after moment, we could only imagine how distraught Henk must’ve been. There hasn’t been any announcement of whether Henk may be the next Bachelor. As we wait to find out, we’ve seen enough to appreciate the fact that any woman would be lucky to bad a hunk like Henk is!
The Bachelorette SA Men Tell All
The men reflected on their season one journey.
Last night (Thursday,14 May, at 19:30) on a riveting and revealing the Bachelorette South Africa Men Tell All, the big characters from the season bared it all. The charming and charismatic host Jason Greer led the proceedings of a very special and intimate episode that saw the men confront each other and face Qiniso for the first time after leaving the mansion.
The men got straight into it as they spoke about everything from their red carpet moments to the group dates and antics. There were many hard questions asked as they confronted each other about their motives, their expectations, disappointments, and regrets.
The gentlemen in the Men Tell All, who lit up South Africa with their moments, were Vuyani, Franco, Kyran, Aviwe, Ruan, Lunga, Peter, Dylan, Craig, and Cameron. In a mansion filled with men all looking to win the heart of one woman, bromances formed and egos clashed. Qiiniso then met with them to answer their big questions: could they have done more, and did some of them feel led on?
Red carpet feels
The men opened up about how they felt on that red carpet. There were many nervous men; Craig went through a lot of emotions and had some insecurity, Lunga said the limo driver almost had to force him out, and Ruan had planned to give Qiniso a smouldering look, but as he exited the limo, that all faded away.
Vuyani learnt not to underestimate anyone as he did not think much of Ruan, only for The Bachelorette’s “King of the North,” Ruan, to get the first impression rose.
Platter, interruptions, and failed plans: Craig’s antics in the mansion
Craig was thrust into the limelight once again as he tried to explain himself and his actions. Having arrived, he felt a little intimidated as everyone had made their groups and plans, so he decided to do his own thing. Vuyani said that he was now okay with Craig interrupting him with the fruit platter, but Lunga was irritated with him as he interrupted him and Qiniso’s game of cards as they were talking about the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
Jason brings up the bro code; you didn’t want to jeopardise anyone in a vulnerable position, and you didn’t want to interrupt anyone’s conversation at the wrong point. This is something that triggered Franco as he lashed out at Craig for trying to interfere with his plans for an improvised one-on-one date with Qiniso.
Franco said he had told everyone about his plans, but Craig, Ruan, and Kyran all admitted that they had no idea of his plan. Franco was clearly still bitter about Craig’s actions. In a hilarious gesture, Craig offered everyone a platter.
Why so serious Peter?
Peter started by stating how he thought some of the guys were not as serious about the processes as he was. Franco and Peter confronted Dylan and Cameron about jumping in the pool. Franco thought that Dylan was genuine but thought Cameron was playing the game. Peter then tried to call out Cameron as well as the tension in the room was turned up.
Strategy was a big part of the show, and the men spoke about what they thought about it. Ruan spoke about how it was harder with more men in the mansion, but it got easier as it went along.
Franco elaborated on his comments about there be five actors and four real people; he thought Dylan and Cameron were genuine enough, but he thought that Peter was very different on and off the camera. He laid into Peter by saying, “ I think you were acting about your feelings towards Qiniso because, firstly, if you knew her for fourteen years, you’d try and pronounce her name properly.” This was a statement that brought a lot of awkward reactions from the other men.
Vuyani and Peter spoke about their friendship and the moment it was tested. Vuyani said that at the end of the day, it was an honest answer at the time, but Peter holds no grudge against Vuyani.
Love was in the air
If there was one person that wore his heart on his sleeve was Aviwe. And he went on to talk about his amazing bracelet from Qiniso, something Peter admitted to being jealous of. Peter revealed that he found love, as he has a serious girlfriend and they live together with his dog Dexter the Destroyer.
Qiniso sets the record straight
The lovely and fierce Bachelorette South Africa Qiniso joined the gentlemen and was ready for all their questions, and there were many.
Kyran opened up first and tried to explain himself and his actions to her. He began with an apology and went on to try to explain his actions to Qiniso. She was quick to forgive him and it was resolved really well.
Ruan said that Qiniso might have put him back in his shell as it was stressful being around her a lot. They both acknowledged how they had an amazing sense of humour. Ruan then opened up about why he pulled away as he realised that someone else suited her better than he did.
Craig had another surprise on the night, as South Africa discovered that he and Qiniso might have been related. It was something that affected him, but that wasn’t the reason she sent him home. She sent him home due to the way he wooed her.
Lunga tried to also clear up his comments to Qiniso, as she did not like being compared to other women. He also wanted to tell her that she wasn’t telling her to shut up. She told him that he hopes he learnt a lesson on patriarchy.
She then went on to speak to Perter and Vuyani. Qiniso also then told Peter that she saw that he had not progressed past their childhood friendship. Peter revealed that he is in a relationship, and Qiniso was genuinely happy for him. In terms of Vuyani, Qiniso revealed that she did not let him go because of his religious beliefs but that she went with her gut.
Qiniso then talks about Keelan and his exit. She does not regret telling Keelan that he was a coward when he left. Dylan then spoke out about his exit and how he didn’t know how he felt. He then went on to defend Keelan by saying that he was brave for acknowledging his indecisiveness. Franco thought that they were taking the spots of other men that wanted to be in the mansion.
Qiniso spoke very highly of Aviwe and how amazing he was. She respected his bravery but could not lead him on cause she wasn’t in the same place. Cameron and Qiniso then spoke about trust. It was a conversation that got a little tense as he felt that there was a miscommunication.
It was an entertaining night filled with laughs, tension, closure, and love in the first Bachelorette South Africa Men Tell All, as the men confronted each other and Qiniso answered some of their pressing questions.
