Why Rége-Jean Page Won’t be Back for Season 2 of ‘Bridgerton’
What’s the tea?
Published
5 days agoon
Apr 5, 2021News that Bridgerton‘s breakout star won’t be returning for the second season sent fans of the period series into a frenzy over the weekend. It comes after Netflix and Shondaland both announced the news on Friday, revealing that Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings, will not be part of the show’s highly anticipated season.
But while the news riled up the show’s fans, many who instantly swore they wouldn’t be tuning in for the second season, it was never going to be any other way. Conspiracies of a rift between the British-Zimbabwean actor and producers may have been fun to dive into, but nothing could be further from the truth.
Sometimes, things must be done by the book. In this case, things are flowing in the direction of the Julia Quinn novels on which the series is based. The character’s storyline is concluded in the first book “The Duke and I.”
That’s why despite everyone (myself included) freaking out, the end of Page’s journey came as no surprise to him and all involved. Talking to Variety, the 31 year actor explained how he’d be contracted to do the show for one season as per the book.
“It’s a one-season arc. It’s going to have a beginning, middle, end – give us a year,” Page said to the publication. “[I thought] ‘That’s interesting,’ because then it felt like a limited series. I get to come in, I get to contribute my bit and then the Bridgerton family rolls on.”

6 Things That Will Happen When Melusi Finds out Langa is his Son on ‘Gomora’
So many, so screwed.
Published

Apr 5, 2021
We’ve been waiting for this moment for almost a year, wondering when the writers and producers of Gomora would leverage on some of the show’s darkest secrets to deliver killer storylines. And now that the secrets are spilling out, and threatening lives along the way, they’ve made these moments worth the wait.
Just weeks after Thathi finally found out that its her mom Sonto who was behind the murder of her late husband Mbongeni, Gomora has moved on to the next big mess. Where Thathi almost killed Sonto after finding out how she lied to cover up the blood on her hands, Thathi’s very own skeleton almost took the life of both her son, and Melusi.
See? Lies can never be kept buried forever! It’s a chilling fact.
But even scariers, is the terror in Thathi’s eyes as she gets to watch how she can do absolutely nothing to stop the truth about her son Langa’s paternity coming out. If anything, her desperate attempts at undermining Melusi and Langa’s relationship have only made things worse for the lady.
Sabotaging the one thing she thought strengthens their bond – their passionate collaboration on Langa’s app, our fiery sister thought she’d cut the umbilical cord when she spilled water on the iPad. Little did she know the two would jump in the car on their way to purchasing a new laptop to retrieve the work in project from a cloud. And on their way, got involved in an accident that left them in the hospital.
It’s here that Gladys overheard Thathi and Pretty talking about Melusi being Langa’s biological father. Again, the clown came back to bite.
We’re feeling quite stressed for Gladys because the bond between her husband and his ex’s son had her all worked up and acting out of character. She’s supposed to have a big heart, always out to help the youngsters in Gomora who need mentorship and guidance. But this is the hubby’s ex’s son, and she thought Thathi could be using that relationship to get closer to Melusi.
“Tell your son Melusi is not his father, and he will never be!”, she yelled at Thathi this one time. It was comical to us, viewers of course because we knew the tea.
Now that she knows, it’s eating her up. Keeping secret from Melusi is only making things worse for Gladiator. Both her and Thathi are afraid of what might happen should Melusi and Langa find out they are father and son. We are afraid they might be absolutely right in all scenarios.
GLADYS & MELUSI’S MARRIAGE SUFFERS
Gladys already knows. We’d feared that Melusi would find out first and upon breaking the news to her, she’d pack up her bags and leave. This time for good! But there might be hope there, since she’s doing all she can to keep this secret under wraps. Still, however, once everyone knows, it must place a new level of strain on her marriage. It might really get serious.
LANGA FALLS OUT WITH THATHI
He’s typically such a gentleman! But lately, Thathi’s childish antics have turned Langa into the master of shade. He’s been telling her off left right and centre. Not only that, Langa has already been alluding how he wishes Melusi were his dad. In one scene, he jokingly asks Thathi why she chose Mbongeni over Melusi. She freaks out as always, going for the angry parent thing. Wait until Langa finds out that his whole life has been a big fat lie.
LANGA MOVES IN THE DOUBLE STOREY
Gladys will soon find out that all those breakfasts Langa used to eat in her house were actually contributions to the upbringing of her step son. We love how the writers have been building this storyline for almost a year, placing little crumbs everywhere. We don’t see Melusi wanting his son growing up so close to the tavern, and being so intimately linked to a well known crime family. Teddy is definitely losing that extra bedroom.
THATHI AND GLADYS MUST NOW COOPERATE
They’ve kept their rivalry going for decades, but Thathi and Gladys will have to learn to co-parent Langa. It’s going to be awkward and funny at the same time. Gladys will have to finally face her feelings of being inadequate as well because as far as we’re concerned, Melusi has done nothing to indicate that he’s still into Thathi like that.
MELUSI’S ANGER TOWARDS THATHI
That goes without saying. Thathi’s lies kept Melusi in the dark for 17 years! She lied and took his son as part of someone else’s family. How could she do this?
THE SCANDAL
When everyone finds out that Langa is Melusi’s son, it’s going to get the streets buzzing in absolute shock. They will be looking at that double storey with a side eye, wondering what other secrets undermine their perfect display. They will be looking at Sonto’s household, thinking ‘just when we thought you lot couldn’t sink any lower with your world of lies and craziness.’ They will be looking at the social worker, judging her for missing things in her own household. Pitying her. Melusi for being played for so long. Thathi for lying to keep her Sandton life rolling.
This is going get very, very interesting and we are here for it.
Gomora airs weekdays at 19:30 on Mzansi Magic, DStv channel 161.
