The year is 2020, and Nadia Nakai has plenty to brag about.
There’s the GOLD status reached by More Drugs, her collaborative banger with Tshego. There’s her major gong win at the SA Hip Hop Awards, her recent slew of collaborations with top streetwear apparel brands and amongst other bags, the highly buzzed brand ambassadorship with a top French cognac brand.
She really meant it when she referred to herself as the hardest working rapper in the country in our Exclusive Interview last year.
And now, she’s adding a documentary to that list! On Friday, October 16th, Nakai will be screening her album documentary. Entitled Nadia Naked: The Album Documentary, the doccie will contain several unreleased music videos from her debut studio album, behind the scenes footage, and performances.

It will also be the first feature-length documentary in the history of SA Hip Hop, and that’s quite something.
In a nutshell, the feature centres around the journey to the creation of Nadia Nakai’s 2019 album, Nadia Naked. Viewers are to catch glimpses of the recording sessions, the creative process in the making of the tape, as well as the reality that goes behind putting together a cohesive studio album.
Speaking to QuenchSA in 2019, Nadia explained the title Nadia Naked; (It’s) about stripping away the layers that I’ve created for myself to not allow people in. If something happens, I never address it on social media and I’m aware that many people want to know how I felt about certain things…”
The Nadia Naked: Album Documentary will air on Channel O, channel 320, on Friday at 21:00.
Nasty C Teases ‘Black And White’ Video with Ari Lennox
Nasty C on Wednesday shared a snippet teaser for the music video of ‘Black and White’, the lush collaboration with US alternative R&B singer Arie Lennox. The song, taken from his 2020 album Zulu Man With Some Power, has been hailed as one of the best songs on the record by fans.
And now Nasty has given it a visual treatment, which will debut on Friday, February 12th. The teaser gives fans enough to spark anticipation for the video, but not enough to give much away. We don’t know if Ari will actually appear in the visual, which appears to be shot on location in Cape Town.

Stogie T’s ‘Freestyle Friday’ to Premiere on Channel O
It’s back to basics now.
Stogie T looks to lavish the culture with Freestyle Friday, a new music television series to air on Channel O.
The show will find the acclaimed MC hosting a bevy of rappers and other musical guests anchored by Hip Hop as they put on display not only their MCing and pure freestyling technique, but also the fun flexibility that makes a rapper a triple threat.
In the promo shared by the music channel on the social platforms, rappers Shane Eagle and Youngsta CPT appear to set off what promises to be a line of Fridays filled with South African Hip Hop flows. QuenchSA understands that each episode after that will be bringing various rappers to splay their creative instincts in a relaxed setting.
The concept was initiated by Stogie T last year. As a means to creatively adjust to the new normal and navigate the constraints of the COVID lockdown the best way an MC can, by chilling the machinations of mainstream culture and daring rappers to return to the roots of their craft, he launched Freestyle Fridays.
At the time, it was really just a free space for local rappers to flow, bar for bar. It blew up from there, now evolving into a television series bringing SA Rap back into the forefront.
Freestyle Friday will air on Fridays at 17:00 on Channel O, DStv channel 320.

Fans will also enjoy a welcomed surprise appearance by former Teargas member, Maezeedoesit.
“Coming out of the current worldwide pandemic, we all need to do the best we can to reach for the stars by living our lives to the fullest since it is now more clear than ever that tomorrow is not promised. Pushing the envelope in every aspect of one’s life/hustle. The opening line of the hook “siyaphezulu” which simply translates as “we are going up” is an umbrella tag line that literally speaks to exactly that. This is the perfect theme song for self-starters out there whose inner voice serve as their biggest motivation and number cheerleader hence the play on sports and combat in the lyrics,” said the rapper in a press statement.
