LISTEN: Cassper & Zola Debut New Single
The collabo everyone is talking about.
Published
8 months agoon

On their freshly released ‘BongiNkosi’ toon, Cassper Nyovest and Zola trade the vibe and hum gospel harmonies. Complete with a choir, the single, which arrived after a fair buzz on Friday, finds both artists pouring out their souls in a spiritual ode about gratitude.
Nyovest has much to be thankful for at this time.
And the rapper slows down the tempo from his recent releases Amademoni and Good For That and instead balances things with a song meant to raise a bit of that frequency.

The rapper, who couldn’t stop smiling from ear to ear at the baby shower for his soon-to-be-born son, is articulating his appreciation for the blessing in mellow vocals over the gospel offering, which comes layered with Kwaito and Hip Hop flavours.
The single is the third from his highly anticipated 5th studio album AMN (Any Minute Now), which will arrive in stores on September 11th.
Considered a Kwaito legend, this would be the first time in ages Zola jumped on a track. The two first revealed their collaboration through a snap showcasing their studio session earlier this month.

Kayton Premieres Debut Single
The Kimberly native is here to switch things up.

Kayton’s recent EP launch was a refreshing delight. The listening session took place at a lush location in Randburg, where the Pop and R&B singer hovered powerhouse vocals over a slew of his upcoming joints. Amongst the songs was his freshly released single ‘Forever’, a love ballad that doubles as an ode to women everywhere.
The afternoon itself was blissful as a select crowd took a breather from the blues of this year’s tough landscape to listen to the up and coming singer introduce his sound near a pool adorned with floating balloons. There was some bubbly, and it eased the scene as Kayton, 23, delivered a soul-stirring performance of his sprawling catalog.
Departing from the grain and focusing on offering a different sound the South African soundscape, the songs we heard blended Pop, dance music, and a touch of Amapiano. Explaining the genesis of his passion for creating music, the singer recalled how he wrote songs and mastered several music instruments as a kid.
It’s quite clear that Kayton takes very seriously the different elements to his craft. Clad in a disco-inspired suit with a retro vibe, the singer made sure to demand attention with his vintage shades and a flashy gleam on the sneakers. Completing the look, which complimented the Pop sound, Kayton’s curly pomp was the hair cut that inspired comparisons to Bruno Mars, Micheal Jackson, Prince and James Brown.
Further to these American Pop icons, Kayton listed amongst others Diplo as being sources of influences for him. But locally, AKA and Nasty C are some top acts he sees himself collaborating with in the future.
Though, his first single, Forever, is a simmering sola ballad showcasing the singer’s vocal agility and beautiful songwriting. The track, which is now available on digital streaming platforms, centres on the calls to appreciate women more in our culture.
He wrote the song for someone who’s close to his heart, but the depth of the lyrics and melody, and the overall message permeating therein, resonates with all women. It encourages women to define their true value and role in society. The song lands as the hostile gender based violence climate continue to haunt South Africa.
”We’re all aware of the violent duress under which women suffer currently in the Republic. The song symbolizes the love, the care, the protection, and the respect that We-Men must demonstrate for our grandmothers, mothers, sisters, daughters, and our better halves,” Kayton said.

Langa Mavuso Returns with New Single ‘Panther’
A lush offering about love and it’s blues.

With his latest single ‘Love Lost’ surpassing 200 000 streams in just under two months, Deezer’s ‘Next Artist of 2020’, Langa Mavuso makes a triumphant return to the charts with the debut of his new single.
Entitled ‘Panther’, the singer’s latest offering boasts a guest appearance from Yanga Chief. The song, QUENCH understands, is taken from the singer’s looming self-titled album, LANGA. The looming project is slated for release on September 25th via Platoon. And if you are as much a fan of the powerhouse vocalist as much as we are, you’d start thinking about the available pre-order.
Crafted with production duo Noble, who recently collaborated with Beyoncé on her seminal Grammy Award-winning album The Lion King: The Gift, ‘Panther’ is a smooth and soulful offering with lush R&B sensibilities and expansive soundscapes that will transport listeners on a late summer evening ride.
The infectious slow jam sees Langa pour his heart out about searching for healing in all the wrong places while highlighting his glorious vocals and exquisite falsetto tones, as well as his penchant for captivating storytelling and vivid songwriting.
Speaking about the inspiration behind his new single ‘Panther’, Langa revealed that the single resulted from a personal heartbreak.
“The song was inspired by a tumultuous time in my life where I had surrounded myself with many distractions to try and get over the pain and heartbreak of a difficult breakup”, he said.
“It captures how exhausting it became to pretend that things were alright with me after this relationship ended. It talks about the many distractions we use to run away from our emotions, whether it’s flashy cars and bottles of champagne to heal the pain, or seeking light in dark places”.
