Emma’s Nine Lives – The River Week Recap

Spoilers Alert

Published

on

Emma and Zolani shooting Lindiwe

It has been one hell of a week for Lindiwe, Emmarentia and Zolani. The ladies managed to escape deaths orchestrated as ploys to get rid of each other so that they can only one Queen of the Dikana clan. Zolani’s heart was left on the floor. Again.

Up until recently, Lindiwe had been the matriarch calling the shots in one of Mzansi’s wealthiest families. But newbie Emma, who had Zolani’s affections all over her, had made some lethal moves to get Madlabantu out of the picture as part of her shrewd plan to gain access to the family’s fortunes.

Lindiwe Shot The River Recap

And for a while, the plan she masterminded with the help of Beauty’s naive co-sign seemed like it was working perfectly.

EMMA LIES HER WAY UP THE DIKANA RANKS

While Lindiwe smelled a rat in Emma’s little scam about being a doctor from the jump, the Dikanas ignored her suspicions about Zolani’s fiancé. Here is a charming, successful, and beautiful medical professional with an enviable wardrobe and personality to die for!

After two previous heartbreaks, it was clear to everyone that Zolani might have finally met the love of his life. It seemed to be written in the stars that the lovebirds were a match made in heaven.

Smitten with her just as much, Andile quickly befriended her. Along with his friend Beauty, who was hiding the truth about Emma being her cousin, the three evolved into a cool circle of friends and family. Those scenes of them sipping on champagne while planning a trip around somewhere lush in South Ah certainly served some friendship goals.

Even after Lindiwe had uncovered some dirt on her and exposed her of being a fraud by displaying wedding pictures of the former marriage she’d hidden from Zolani at their engagement party, the family continued looking past the shady signals.

Now confident that she’d outsmarted and outplayed Lindiwe, Emmarentia played her best card yet. But, as she turned out, it almost cost her what of her many lives.

KILL LINDIWE

With the rumour that she’d murdered her first husband, Emma paying her favourite hitmen to kill Lindiwe shouldn’t have come as a surprise. But it did. She just doesn’t really give off a vibe of someone who’d orchestrate a cold-blooded murder of her potential lawyer just so she can gain access to the Dikana wealth. Clearly, her game has been flawless.

Lindiwe Killing The River Recap

The hitmen arrived and displayed the kind of mediocrity that we can only appreciate from someone trying to cause harm to someone else. Cutting a long story short, the gun ended up being turned on them by Lindiwe, and she shot them both and got the whole scene cleaned up with the quickness.

And then, to Emma’s shock, she joined the family at their private equestrian outing.

EMMA’S RIDE, OR DIE, MOMENT

See what we did there? The two’s feud sunk even deeper in the pits of hell when Lindiwe, instead of blowing Emma’s cover and exposing the twisted ploy to have her killed, decided to help her to her death.

The perfect opportunity came while Emma was riding a horse alone. Lurking in the trenches away from everyone’s lovely bonding sessions, Lindiwe shot up her gun, scaring the horse.

Next thing Emma is being dragged by the horse in one tragic scene that, under normal circumstances, could have led to her death. But, at this point, it was clear that Emma’s survival instincts were no joke. The girl is a survivor!

LINDIWE DIGS HER OWN GRAVE

At first figuratively, and later, literally.

The first time she did it came when she went to Zolani’s room to find the severely bruised Emma in bed. During one of their nasty back and forths, she uttered some unforgivable remarks about Zolani. She’d made Zolani the man he is. So she’s now his God. Imagine! The gull…

But this is Lindiwe we are talking about. Her tongue is sharp, and she insists on having the last word. In any case, everyone should probably just give her the damn last word anyway because, beyond that, other really bad things sometimes happen. Like, people disappear.

What she didn’t know, however, is that Emma had been playing her throughout that heated chat. She had been recording the conversation to use it as ammunition to alienate her even further from Zolani, and also prove that Lindiwe had been behind the horse riding ‘accident’. Not one to fumble any opportunities, it wasn’t long before Zolani was listening to the audio recording with the shock of his life.

That’s how Lindiwe’s second, and more literal, grave digging came about.

EMMA’S COVER GETS BLOWN

In a shocking twist, Zolani forced his aunt to drive to a deserted area at gunpoint. In a rage, he got her to start digging her own gunpoint. ALL IN HER STUNNING WHITE SUIT.

After a screamfest between the two, Zolani shot at Lindiwe, wounding her shoulder. She fell into the grave, already deep enough for her body to be buried. That’s when Emma joined, desperately pushing for Zolani to finish the job faster.

Meanwhile back at the mansion, Beauty told Andile everything. She confessed that she and Emma are cousins. She exposed the Emma’s lie about being a doctor and detailed her plan to use Zolani to get her hands on the family’s money.

In the nick of time, Zolani’s phone rang. Andile told him everything. He confronted Emma. After he, after losing it, drove off and left the loaded gun between Lindiwe and Emma so they could kill each other.

After a quick physical scuffle, Madlabantu appeared to be shooting at her.

That cliff hanger didn’t last long, as we now know that Emma is still alive. Begging Beauty to help her with funds so she could escape, she survived yet another near-death experience. Will this be the end of Emma, or will she try again?

We can’t wait to see how the whole thing unravels.

The River premieres on 1Magic, DStv channel 103, Monday to Friday at 20:00. Viewers can also stream the telenovela on Showmax.

What To Expect on This Week’s M-Net Local Thursdays

‘Legacy’, ‘Single Wives’ and ‘Inconceivable’.

Published

on

We all know M-Net (channel 101) didn’t come to play with the girls this year. Having premiered a slew of high-quality local productions, it’s clear that the Premium channel is shifting focus to invest in original South African storytelling as a means to upgrade their ‘fresh from the US’ offering.

Very 2020 of them.

Now there’s a pretty cool block on Thursday, where you can catch these local TV series screening back to back. Here’s what you can expect this week

“Surprises Galore” in Legacy

Felicity (Mary-anne Barlow) and Stefan (Sean-Marco Vorster) are shocked to learn the real surprise John (Nawa Mlangeni) has in store for them. A blast from the past seems to threaten a budding love affair. Legacy airs Monday-Thursday at 19:00 and is created by Tshedza Productions.

Taking stock in The Single Wives SA

“How do I fall in love?”

The Single Wives invite their men on an unforgettable romantic weekend away to Knysna. How will their dates feel, and have their relationships developed enough for the next step?

The couples are also faced with “36 questions”, a tool to assist them in reaching a new level of intimacy and connection.

Will this weekend away bring couples closer, or push others further apart?

More reasons to tune in:

  • A relationship becomes official.
  • Compromise. One of the ladies is learning not to be too pushy.
  • Sisterhood. Something doesn’t sit well with Genevieve…

The Single Wives SA is produced by Black Swan Media and is screened on M-Net Channel 101 every Thursday at 19:30.

James and Rachel are on a mission to do whatever it takes – even if means that they lose a dear friend-  in this week’s episode of Inconceivable.

“Surprise”

James (Langley Kirkley) and Rachel (Carine Rous) team up and find the perfect plan to blackmail Marieke (Anel Alexander), which leaves Wesley (Wayne van Rooyen) caught in the middle. Natalie (Nina Hastie) and Sisanda (Sisanda Henna) are at odds with one another, as she continues to keep their secret from David (Craig Jackson). Tamsin (Jay Anstey) finally manages to pull herself out of her own self-destruction, but she is left in a difficult position when she gets a call from her son’s school.

Produced and created by Rous House productions – Inconceivable airs Thursdays at 20:30.

Isibaya: Who’s In & Who’s Out?

Update on Isibaya cast members.

Published

on

Mzansi Magic telenovela, Isibaya is back on everyone’s tongue after a long time. However, it is not because of the on-screen action. It’s safe to say that the TV show lost the plot a long time ago. It came as no surprise when rumours started swirling around that it was going to get canned.

Like the Titanic after it hit the iceberg, some actors have begun jumping the sinking ship. Ironically, there are also additions made to the roster of late that are tasked with reviving the flopping ratings. It remains to be seen if the television program can ever get back to its former glory.

WHO’S LEAVING…

The lead actor on the show, Siyabonga Thwala, who portrays Mpiyakhe Zungu is reported to be on his way out. It has been a long time coming, after there were allegations of the veteran actor being a diva on set. Thwala has already landed another role on the new M-Net telenovela, Legacy as Msizi Zulu.

Siyabonga Thwala

RELATED TV NEWS: ISIBAYA MZANSI MAGIC NOVEMBER EPISODIC TEASERS

The latest actor making an exit is Sdumo Mtshali, who plays Sbu Ndlovu. Luckily, he also has a life-jacket as SABC 3 is producing a new soapie dubbed The Estates. According to reports making the rounds, the actor jumped ship because of the dwindling tv ratings.

The last time the ratings were decent was when Menzi Ngubane was still associated with the show. The storyline that precipitated his exit coincided with Nomzamo Mbatha leaving Isibaya. Around that time, Palance Dladla was also linked with a move away from the TV show, which turned out to be falsehoods.

…WHO’S COMING IN

We wonder how this will be executed. Menzi Ngubane is linked with a dramatic return to the show, when it clear looked like that was a fatal gunshot. Ngubane’s move to The Queen never materialised due to health complications but we eagerly await his resurrection with bated breath.

Another returnee is Zakhele Msibi, who plays the mischievous Nkabinde. He was ran out of eBhubesini and his return will sure add some much needed flavour to the stale storyline.

Lastly; Thulani Mtsweni, formerly of Isidingo joins the cast of Isibaya as Mpihlangene Zungu. He is described as a charming conman who is the younger brother to the exiting Sengwayo. Mtsweni’s range as an actor is well documented, with his résumé including roles in sitcoms and daily dramas.

Catch Isibaya every Monday to Friday on Mzansi Magic, DSTV channel 161, at 20:30.
