RHOJ Season 2 Reunion Highlights – Shade and Files!

Meouw!

Published

on

Some of you may have already experienced the shocking claims that surfaced on the Real Housewives of Johannesburg season 2 Reunion Special when the reality aired on 1Magic last year.

And while QuenchSA might have been part of that chat because we like things and belong to the streets, our DStv subscribing readers are only now witnessing the full wrath of Brinnette as she took on Mrs. Mops and Lethabo.

Ooh’s and Ah’s echoed all over social media on Wednesday as Brinnette Seopela showed up prepared to read her detractors for filth in the much talked about episode.

Amongst other things, Breezy interrogated Lethabo on the identity of the man who paid for her hotel room when the girls went to Durbs as a group to attend the glitzy Durban July affair.

Phat Joe RHOJ Reunion Season 2

Phat Joe is the host for the Reunion

Viewers will remember the dramatic scenes that took place outside the marquees after them horses had finished galloping somewhere nearby.

Lethabo, no doubt this season’s villian (and most talked about), dragged Brinnette to hell and back over the tension that had been brewing between the two. Tired of being referred to as ‘kids’, a term Bree had secured for both Brinnette and Mrs. Mops, Lethabo pounced and shaded her about still living with her parents at her big age.

Brinnette recently got divorced and has been rather open about moving in back with her parents. However, Lethabo felt Seopela had no ground to refer to anyone as ‘kids’ when she clearly still under the care of her folk.

Avenging herself for that heated exchange in the middle of last year’s winter, Brinnette showed up with title deeds to prove that she does, in fact, own property.

This would be akin to Kenya Moore bringing her marriage certificate to the RHOA season 12 Reunion to quell blazing rumours that she’d never been legally married to Marc Daly.

Proceeding from there, she alluded to Lethabo being kept and paid for.

One of the most shocking claims of the night, however, has to be the allegations that Mrs. Mops, who Phat Joe questioned about being on a ‘married high horse’, had been cheating on her husband!

It was unnerving, and Mrs. Mops laughed it off as ridiculous. Brinnette mentioned the name of the said side piece but it was bleeped for obvious reasons.

Other funny moments from the reunion included Lethabo and Lebo having a stand off. Lethabo revealed in a funny plot twist that Lebo’s Mauritius wedding cake might have been massive, but most of it was foam. The mansion is also a rental, apparently.

All three parts of the reunion have aired on Mzansi Magic, but viewers can still catch up with all the shade and beautiful gowns, very beautiful gowns, on Showmax.

Khanyi Mbau’s Reality Show Debuts, and Fumbles

She’s an enigma, but the first episode lacked direction, substance and content.

Published

on

Khanyi Mbau - Reloaded

Khanyi Mbau’s reality show kicked off with an explosive confessional, literally. “You thought this was about pink champagne… everything pink?”, she asks with a piercing gaze, cross-examining the viewer and doing what she does best – proving that she has layers that cannot be pinned down.

And just between us, we wondered if that interesting statement was shade at the sparkly and pink texture that defines the theme and feel of other industry girls and their reality shows. It won’t take a genius to realize a lot of the new celebrity reality shows love the idea of champagne as a starter pack for the high life. We could be overthinking it and it’s only Tuesday.

Here’s the thing though; You never really know what to expect from Khanyi Mbau. In the next moment, she smashes the champagne flute on the floor. One thing you can certainly expect from her is the shock factor.

She’s not new to this. For more than a decade, the media personality has been the fascination of the tabloids. She’s grabbed headlines for nearly everything. Most notably, her highly publicized relationships – some of which drew intrigue thanks to their ‘blesser/Slay Queen’ dynamic.

SA REALITY SHOWS: ‘IZANGOMA ZODUMO’ PREMIERES ON MZANSI MAGIC

Because of her open book policy, Mbau has never shied away from being splashed all over the media.

Remember that iconic interview she once did with Deborah Patta, in which she was grilled for her “ostentatious displays of opulence” in the face of a poverty-stricken country? “If I want blue cheese, I will have blue cheese”, she famously fired back at the journalist.

It’s this bold confidence and unapologetic outlook that keeps Khanyi Mbau such a fascinating figure. She tackles everything, from the status of her bank account to the skin lightening, with a sense of honesty and defiance. That’s why by 2012, she’d already built enough of a big life to publish her own memoir, ‘Bitch Please, I’m Khanyi Mbau!

Long before all the girls, Khanyi had risen to become arguably the first “it girl” in the local entertainment scene. The socialite who dominated the Sunday papers. Hollywood had Paris Hilton, we had Khanyi Mbau.

So it’s not a surprise that she finally has her own reality show. ‘Mbau Reloaded: Always Rise gives viewers a glimpse into Khanyi’s life as she navigates spaces in the northern suburb. The show focuses on her personal relationships, her professional life, and everything in between. We see her as a mother, a sister and the boss lady she’s become.

A self-confessed “ghetto snob”, she shows us where she is now in her life.

The first episode is obviously an introduction to her world through a new lens. Unlike the big interviews she’s done, and all the headlines alongside all of that, the vibe her is relaxed, allowing us to really enter her world.

MBAU RELOADED: AWAYS RISE TV REVIEW

The first episode was underwhelming. Khanyi Mbau is a vibe, but her big personality could not help lift the spirit of her new show. It felt a little muted, at least by the standard we’ve come to attach to Khanyi Mbau, the fierce and fearless leader of the new school of Mzansi entertainment.

Where she’s always shaking the table, making us laugh and even triggering the locals with her statements, the intro to the first season of Mbau Reloaded: Always Rise, did not rise to the occasion. At best, it was an unsure start. At worst, rather boring.

More than that, it was bare without direction or substance.

Scenes of her shopping at the sportswear brand store when she’d been invited to shop as a nice perk in their business relationship, could have been left on the cutting floor. But she’s a smart businesswoman, and she’s already using the show to leverage bigger business. It’s probably the reason she went to the store with a bottle of her gin brand.

The hearty moments on the show are noted. Her interactions with her sister and with her daughter were lovely and did succeed as far as giving us a new sighting of Khanyi Mbau – the woman beyond the headlines. Sadly, however, even those felt rushed and lost at sea.

By the end of the first episode, it felt like a bunch of scenes had been jumbled together in a way that missed the mark.

TUNE IN OR CHECK OUT?

It’s Khanyi Mbau, so we will be tuning in a couple more times to see how the show evolves. Will, there be an actual storyline developing along with the episodes, or will it continue feeling like a vlog? Only time will tell.

New Mzansi Magic Reality Show Izangoma Zodumo Dropping this Month

Siyavuma!

Published

on

Like most of us, you never thought you would ever see the inner-workings of a session with a sangoma on television. Well thanks to Mzansi Magic, you will get a front row seat to watching how the not-so-stereotypical sangoma leaves.

Izangoma Zodumo, is a new reality show that follows traditional healers as they juggle between their calling, social lives and professional careers in today’s day and age.

Follow the lives of two traditional healers who after they initially ignored their calling, find themselves having to juggle between their new found gifts, “larger than life” social lives, relationships and professional careers.

By tracking the day-to-day movements of two traditional healers – Prudence “Ngwe” Magagula and Makgotso “Gogo Maweni” Makopo – Izangoma Zodumo gives viewers a fly-on-the-wall view of the lives of the two ladies, who are both gobelas – traditional healers and initiators in a never seen before reality show.

The show gives insights into traditional healing, training practices, family dynamics, love and friendships. The two lead characters are relatable and bring an element of talkability through challenges of their leadership of Amathwasane or initiates, clients, family and each other as their own friendship is tested.

“The show aims to satisfy the curiosity of our viewers on how career women cope with getting a calling to be traditional healers, and how they end up juggling between the two. While the show naturally appeals to our younger viewers, it will make for compelling television even to our older market as well. Viewers should get ready to experience storytelling on a whole new level where an ancestral calling intersects with the daily lives and relationships of our main cast members,” says Nomsa Philiso, Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net.

Through the true-life stories of Ngwe, a 24 year-old professional nurse and mother of one, and Makgotso Makopo, 34, an events planner and a mother of three whose Instagram handle is “champagne mommy”, the two women will also confide in viewers and react to moments in the reality show.

Prime time TV will never be the same. Watch Izangoma Zodumo on Mzansi Magic, DStv channel 161 from 7 October 2020 at 20:00pm.

Khanyi Mbau Announces New Reality Show on BET Africa

Khanyi set to give fans a peak into her life with a new reality show.

Published

on

Khanyi Mbau - Reloaded

We’ve long came to grips with the fact that Khanyi Mbau has a lot more substance than the once permeated label of Queen of Bling. Every now and then we would get sneak peaks into her life through someone else’s reality show. Whether it is on her brother Lasizwe’s Fake it Till You Make it or Living The Dream With Somizi, she often stole the show with her bubbly personality.

It comes as no shock that she is now about to roll out her own reality show. The show will document Khanyi’s life in all her roles as a parent, businesswoman and socialite lifestyle that she get to see on the off-chance that she lets us peak through the curtain on her social.

BET Africa will air the reality show dubbed Mbau Reloaded: Always Rise starting from Saturday, October 10. If common sense prevails, we will get to see some of Khanyi’s industry friends make cameo appearances on the show. In extravagant fashion, BET Africa posted a teaser of what to expect on show.

As one of the most interesting media personalities of the last decade, it’s no surprise that this is not the first time we hear of Mbau getting a reality show. Last year, she posted a video on her Twitter page that alluded to a reality show being produced by Molten Multimedia. Sadly, it never saw the light of day.

You can catch weekly episodes of Khanyi doing the most on BET Africa, DSTV channel 129 on Saturday 10 October 2020 at 19:30.
