Uzalo to Go Off Air for a Month Amid Lockdown
Mzansi’s highest rated TV series to go on a hiatus.

Uzalo will be airing its last episode on Monday, May 11th.
While it’s no surprise, considering a slew of Mzansi TV shows who are being yanked off air due to the ongoing nationwide Lockdown, the soapie on Wednesday made the official announcement on social media.
Fans, who have been excited to find out that the crew finally went back on set on Wednesday after the Lockdown moved into level 4, were saddened to find out they will have to without their favourite show for more than a month.
“This is due to the national lockdown aimed at combating the global COVID-19 pandemic”, the telenovela explained in a statement.
“Production was profoundly impacted by this as it has directly resulted in the show not having enough material to flight. It is important to deliver content that adheres to the COVID-19 protocols, safeguarding our active cast, crew and greater community.”

At more than 11 million viewers every night, there’s no doubt that the absence of Uzalo on the screens will be leaving a massive gap. And, sadly, here aren’t many other soapies and telenovelas to turn to as alternatives.
The likes of The River and The Queen have already confirmed that they will be airing their last episodes soon, as the production of new material is only resuming everywhere. 1Magic has confirmed that they would be airing a rerun of Isthunzi in place of The River.
Uzalo is promising more riveting plot twist upon its return on Monday, June 15th on it’s 20:30 slot on SABC 1.

South African music lovers may have only nostalgic memories of some of the finest concerts and festivals they have attended as an artifact of a world we all miss in these times. But not even the countrywide Lockdown will stop the music from melting away the blues.
In celebration of the looming Women’s Month, the South African State Theatre has announced virtual music concerts by legend Mama Sibongile Khumalo, and critically lauded songbird Zonke Dikana. Both shows are included as part of SAST’s Season 3 of online streaming service.

Tickets can be purchased at Webtickets from R70. Fans can stream both concerts on the SAST’s online channel from the comfort of their living rooms.
Mama Sibongile Khumalo is a living legend and a national treasure. Leveraging on her ‘first love for stage,’ time and again the State Theatre borrows her in a bid to celebrate her while she is still alive and to remind the nation of its fortunes.

With now five studio albums under her belt, the multiplatinum-selling Zonke is proving to being an unstoppable force. Her recent album, LOVE(2018), was certified platinum in November last year.
Hit records such as Feelings, Jikizinto, Nameless and many more in her enchanting discography, have a reputation to keeping audiences on their in her sold-out affairs. In this encounter, she will be performing LIVE in an empty 1300-seater Opera Theatre but streamed on SAST online channel.

And this Sunday, the R&B singer will be delivering a performance on the Ayepyep Lockdown Sessions, a new virtual groove offering locals found out about here. Airing on Trace Urban on the Sundays, the sessions are hosted by Pretoria natives DJ Sumbody and Lamiez Holworthy.
