Castle Lite Unlocks 2020 postponed

In light of everything, groove included, in the wake of COVID-19, Castle Lite Unlocks has now joined the long list of events that have been postponed. As previously reported by QuenchSA, this year’s concert’s was slated to take place on June 12th at ProTicket Dome in Johannesburg.

American rapper Cardi B had been announced as this year’s headliner.

But following the announcement made by President Cyril Ramaphosa on the Government’s strict actions in addressing the COVID-19 outbreak, the premium beer brand has announced that the shindig will now be rescheduled to another time.

“We share the disappointment of our fans during this time of uncertainty, however, as a brand that cares for its consumers, we cannot ignore the growing concerns for health and safety as a result of the rapid spread of the COVID-19 in South Africa and around the world”, said Castle Lite Brand Director Silke Bucker.

“It is important to highlight that an event of this magnitude has multiple moving parts and for this reason, the brand is deliberating and will communicate further details around new date and tickets by the end of March 2020.”

The event organisers have also assured that they are in talks with Cardi, and that the event will be back on as soon as it is safe again to do so.

And because the show is merely being postponed, there’s no need to initiate a ticket refund for those who’ve already purchased their ticket. TicketPro has confirmed that the current tickets will be valid for the yet to be announced reschedule.

Should a consumer wish to no longer attend the experience, they will be able to obtain a full refund, details of which will be communicated once we have announced the new performance date.

Bushfire Festival Cancelled Amid Corona Virus Panic

Published

on

The Bushfire Festival is amongst a growing number of similar events who are cancelling their shows in 2020.

Just days after Coachella announced that they will be postponing their highly anticipated 2020 shindig, where South African DJ Black Coffee had a slot, Bushfire Festival has also announced that this year’s festival, initially slated to took place May 28-30 May, will be postponed until 2021.

The announcement comes amid concerns of the global corona virus spread, which has currently infected 61 South African. With the number expected to rise exponentially in the coming days, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Sunday urged the country to avoid gatherings with a number of people exceeding 100.

In a press statement, Bushfire Festival affirmed that health, safety and security take utmost priority.

“As a socially conscious and conscientious festival, MTN Bushfire prioritises the health, safety and security of the Eswatini community, the festival staff and guests. MTN Bushfire believes that this is the responsible decision to make in recognition of these extraordinary circumstances”, the festival expressed in the statement.

MTN Bushfire will #KeepTheFireBurning! Therefore, festival tickets and camping passes that have already been purchased will still be valid in 2021.
The festival has also entered into negotiations with all other travel and accommodation partners to ensure that guests can defer their bookings to 2021 festival dates. Festival goers are encouraged to contact the relevant travel and accommodation providers to make these arrangements.

To those who can’t make it to the 14th Edition of the festival in 2021, information on refunds for festival tickets will be made available on 27 March, 2020. The process, terms and conditions will be announced then.

Over the past week, the festival has been in consultation with key Eswatini government stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade. MTN Bushfire has also been in talks with MTN Eswatini, sponsors, partners and other relevant parties.
The Team acknowledges the massive economic and cultural impact that the festival has for local creatives and traders, and the region as a whole. However, these discussions and the ultimate decision to postpone this year’s festival have been guided by a collective priority for the safety of the people of Eswatini, festival guests and staff members.

This has been an emotional time for the dedicated and hardworking team at MTN Bushfire, and for everyone who has committed to making the MTN Bushfire experience yet another successful and memorable one.

The team will continue to fulfil the festival’s unwavering commitment towards creating a safe space that celebrates diversity, encourages social inclusion and amplifies our call to action to positive social change, #BRINGYOURFIRE. The 14th Edition of the festival is going to be an even more explosive and electrifying experience!
QuenchSA will be keeping you posted on what’s next.
