Both Isibaya viewers and the cast have been sobbing over the realistic scenes which portrayed the death of one of the soapie’s leading characters, Thandeka Zungu.
The last few episodes have shown the moment she died, how her loved ones mourned her tragic death, and the burial which her father, Mpiyakhe, could not properly attend as he’s on the run.
Portrayed by Nomzamo Mbatha, who took a hiatus from filming the Mzansi Magic show as she currently films the hotly anticipated Coming 2 America flick in Los Angeles, Thandeka was shot dead by Mpiyakhe’s arch rival, Judas.
And now the actress, who allowed fans the opportunity to bid farewell to her character by making time to film the chilling scenes for the much talked about episode, has taken to Instagram to share a heartfelt message about her departure.
In the lengthy post that features a homage of Thandeka’s role, Mbatha thanks cast and crew, Bomb productions, as well as Isibaya viewers for having allowed Thandeka in their homes for so long.
“To the viewers and supporters of Isibaya… I am forever indebted. Every corner of every mall, airport… and homes… you have loved Thandeka until the very end (sic)”, she wrote, triggering an avalanche of supportive messages from her fans and her peers.
“To the entire crew and cast… you have held this ship together and helped to redefine television as we all knew it! I bow out knowing that you will continue to do so.”
“Thank you. Ngiyabonga…”, she expressed.
