Lorcia Cooper and Thandeka Dawn King on Lockdown season 5

The women of Thabazimbi Correctional Facility are back to serve up yet another thrilling season of LockDown. In its fifth instalment, fans of the series can expect tons of twists that make this season arguably the best one thus far. With every season introducing additions to the stellar cast that add to the lustre of the talent that is on view, we get a taste of what’s to come in the first episode. After the killing of MaSabatha (Nthati Moshesh), an investigation into her death is conducted by none other than veteran actor, Patrick Ndlovu as Israel the Police Commissioner.

The interrogation of the inmates in the prison set the tone for the entire episode, with alliances being formed by everyone to save themselves. We thought we’d never see MaZet (Dawn Thandeka King) working with Tyson (Lorcia Cooper) after all that has transpired between the two but it seems bygones…

RELATED: Lockdown S5: Sophie Lichaba Debuts New Role!

Inside the four walls of a prison, there are no secrets!

After Deborah (Pamela Nomvete) went to great lengths to cover up her infidelity with one of the guards last season, the act which led to her being impregnated, her little secret comes out in unfortunate circumstances. In a ruse to gain entry into the prison’s dispensary, the doctor advises her to take it easy. In the same breath, the doctor reveals that Deborah has just past her first trimester and a attentive MaZet catches wind of the tasty tidbit.

The episode also touches on Tyson’s reign as the alpha of the cell, with her gang striking fear in anyone who dares challenge her. Her Achilles heel is a little secret that Sue so poignantly flaunts in her face that she attempted to murder MaZet’s daughter. None other than Slenda (Nomsa Buthelezi) learns of this tale that involves her friend’s daughter, which adds some bite to anticipation of the clash between the two arch-nemesis.

You won’t be disappointed with the drama that the 5th season dishes up. On the menu is a buffet of family betrayal, revenge, explosive action and a potential escape. Spoiler alert!!! Don’t miss the premier of LockDown season 5 episode 1 this Thursday, January 20, only on Showmax.

The Bachelor SA Episode Recap — The Night of Firsts!

The girls continued their pitch for Marc’s affections.

Published

on

Last night (Thursday, 20 Feb) on the local reality dating series, The Bachelor SA,  consummate host Jason Greer revealed the meaning behind the first twist of the season – ‘The Wild Rose’.

The mysterious and desirable white rose that was handed to Pasha at the first Rose Ceremony possessed a power that made many of the girls envious – the power to steal any group or individual date off of a fellow lady, valid until the fourth Rose Ceremony.

Much to the ladies surprise, bombshell dancer Pasha wasted no time in putting her Wild Rose to good use – stealing the very first one-on-one date from 24-year-old sweetheart speech therapist Marisia. “I need to do, what I need to do.

And, as soon as I heard it was a one-on-one, I knew I had to take it,” Pasha explained in a diary session.  Understandably, Marisia was disappointed, as her opportunity to spend one-on-one time with Marc was taken away from her in the blink of an eye.

WHAT’S ON TV: ‘RHYTHM CITY’ TEASERS FOR FEBRUARY 2020

Marc, on the other hand, was surprised that Pasha used her Wild Rose so soon but pleased that he got to spend the date with her.

The pair spent the day doing the things that our adventurous Bachelor loves, in the great outdoors. The couple enjoyed a wild ride off-roading in a Toyota Hilux, followed by a tranquil hike through Hennops Hiking Trail, which ended with a picturesque sunset to set the tone for the rest of the date.

The evening progressed with a dreamy romantic picnic set up in the bush, with lush blankets and cushions, candles and flowers as they watched throwbacks of their youth days on a projector screen and shared funny memories of each.

WHAT’S ON TV: MORE DRAMA ON ‘SKEEM SAAM’ THIS MONTH!

The couple enjoyed the evening under the moonlight in each other’s arms, and at the end, Marc presented Pasha with a beautiful red rose, making her the first one-on-one rose recipient. Will this place another target on her back?

The moment Marc gave Pasha the rose on The Bachelor SA, South African TV News: The Bachelor SA season 2. Episode 2 Recap. Where to watch The Bachelor SA, Stream Bachelor SA

Marc hands Pasha a rose on Thursday night’s episode of The Bachelor

The drama at the mansion

Seems as if the sparks will fly in the second season of The Bachelor SA. Upon arrival at the beautiful Bachelor mansion,  the ladies had been split up into three different bedrooms – the pink room, the purple room and the red room.

The purple room has developed a reputation for being the ‘loud and proud’ room, which has become a tad intimidating for some of the roommates. Bridget and Greta have rubbed each other up the wrong way – prompting Bridget to move into the pink room. Will this move cause more tension and a divide amongst the ladies?

The Group Date

Marc invited Greta, Parushka, Mulesa and Bridget to the first group date which combined two of his passions – his now famous dog Luna and DYI projects. The stylish ladies each had to build a kennel, showcasing their own personality, to impress Marc’s furry friend. At the end of the activity, Marc chose Mulesa to spend some one-on-one time with, where he admitted to her that she is honestly one of the most beautiful women he has ever met.

The Cocktail Party

The girls who didn’t go on dates were burning to get to know Marc a little better. In fact, some of them were like vultures, making their moves with no consideration for the next, leaving the more timid ladies feeling stressed, as another Rose Ceremony loomed.

The tension was palpable and mounting. Adding to the tension, was the rumour that the purple room ladies were spitefully aiming to hog all the time with Marc.

The Rose Ceremony

With only eighteen roses and twenty ladies, two ladies left the Bachelor mansion. Greta, Tegan and Xia were left to the very end, with Greta feeling very insecure about receiving the very last rose.

At the end of the ceremony, 31-year-old Tegan and 23-year-old Xia found themselves without roses in their hands – bringing their journey to an end. “I don’t enjoy rejection, obviously I wasn’t good enough, and that hurts a little bit,” Tegan admitted in her diary session while Xia said, “not getting a rose, super disappointing. But, if I’m not what he is looking for, I cannot force that connection,”.

The Bachelor SA Season 2 airs every Thursday at 19:00 on M-Net Channel 101. DStv Premium viewers can also catch all the romance on Catch Up, or stream the episodes live via their mobile devices on DStv Now.

Minnie Dlamini Jones to Host DStv Viewers’ Choice Awards!

She will pilot the glamorous event this coming March.

Published

on

Minnie Dlamini is the official host for the 2020 DStv Viewers Choice Awards

Minnie Dlamini Jones was on Tuesday announced as the official host for the third annual DStv Viewers’ Choice Awards.

The Homeground TV presenter will aim to delight droves of A-listers and audiences who will be in attendance at the looming show, which will be taped live at the Dome in Johannesburg.

The announcement marks the first time the show will not be piloted by Bonang Matheba, which will give the South African media darling plenty of time to enjoy herself as one of the nominees in the ‘Favourite TV Presenter’ category!

The glitzy shindig, which honours top talents across various categories in the South African entertainment business, will broadcast live on the 14th of March 2020. Along with the red carpet special, the show will be aired on Mzansi Magic, DStv channel 320.

Minnie couldn’t be happier about the latest bag.

“Being part of the MultiChoice family has been a great honour for me not only as part of the productions that I work on, but to have the team bestow such a big responsibility is something I do not take for granted”, she shared in a press statement.

Adding; “A production of this magnitude has no do overs and my greatest wish is to make all the viewers proud of my work as they are the people we are celebrating on the day”.

Though, Dlamini Jones is seasoned at this.

The 29 year old media personality and beauty entrepreneur boasts a career that has sustained relevance for more than a decade. Having started out in 2010 as a TV Presenter for various sports and music shows, Minnie later moved to acting in her debut M-Net soapie, The Wild.

She later joined Mzansi Magic’s Sunday night drama, Rockville.

2017 saw South Africans get a rare glimpse into her very private life leading up to her glamorous nuptials in a three-part reality series titled Becoming Mrs Jones.

Fans have the chance to crown winners in each category. Voting closes on the 29th of February and fans can vote for their favourites via these platforms:
