“He’s a Prick!” – Anele Mdoda and Phat Joe’s New Feud

One month after Phat Joe’s suspension over homophobic on air remarks, he’s trending again for more foolishness.

Published

on

Phat Joe and Anele Mdoda are the latest South African celebrities who might be no longer be inviting each other to the braai.

The popular radio presenters on Wednesday read each other for filth, shaking the table just in time for breakfast. It all happened (so fast!) after Phat Joe threw the low hanging shade at Anele Mdoda, questioning her inclusion on the the Miss SA judging panel.

Phat Joe reportedly ruffled feathers on his Radio 2000 breakfast show when he paid dust to Mdoda’s gig judging the Miss SA girlies, allegedly saying she’s only there because of ‘affirmative action.’

“Phat Joe is obsessed with me”, Anele tweeted, hitting back at the Radio 2000 presenter over shady comments.

In a storm of tweets calling Phat Joe out, Anele also later referred to him as “washed out” and urged him to try again when he can keep a show long enough.

We know of course that Phat Joe’s controversies not only keep him on top of mind because an opportunity to shock and trend is never missed, but they’ve also led to multiple suspensions and dismissals over the years.

Just last month, the 44 year old shock jock was suspended over on air homophobic remarks.

In an attempt to defend Zodwa Wabantu’s scathing attack on gay people (she’s since delivered her apology), Majota said he doesn’t “understand why (gays) can’t accept that it’s difficult for most people to accept their lifestyle.”

In 2009, the motormouth radio host was fired from his radio show at Kaya FM after making ‘insensitive’ (insert transphobic) comments about the legitimacy of Caster Semenya’s womanhood.

According to reports, Majota had asked whether or not Semenya ever had a period. Following backlash from his listeners at the time, he’s said to have later tried explaining his comments, saying, “What is the difference between testes and testicles? Let’s say she has testes… Does it mean she is a man or a woman? She is either a natural phenomenon, or something is wrong and something should be fixed.”

Meanwhile, the 2019 Miss SA show will be airing on Mzansi this Friday.

10 Fun Facts About Ntando Duma

Think you know her?

Published

on

South African celebrity News: Fun Facts about Ntando Duma

She’s not new to this.

And because Ntando Duma has had her fair share of headline grabbing moments as one of South Africa’s most talked about celebrities, it’s easy for many to think they know what she’s all about!

But aside from her boisterous and big personality, along with the occasional social media fuss that comes with the spotlight, you’ve probably barely begun to scratch the surface.

The South African actress and TV personality, who started out as a kiddies TV presenter, is best known for her role as Zinzi on Rhythm City. Now a proud working mom of one, Ntando will be one of six celebrities who will appear in the upcoming season of Tropika Island of Treasure, premiering on SABC 3 soon.

10 THINGS YOU PROBABLY DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT NTANDO DUMA

    • Ntando only started dating when she was 19 years old. “I was really scared of boys back then! I was a late bloomer when it comes to dating.”
    • When it comes to food, her favourite food is pap and Amasi while the one food she’s always wanted to taste but still hasn’t had the opportunity to is oysters.
    • When she was younger, Ntando says that her celebrity crush was Siphesihle Vazi. “He’s such a great guy and I really enjoyed watching him on TV,” she says.
    • If she could’ve starred in any movie, it would’ve been in Black Panther. “I’ve got a really big crush on Michael B Jordan so it would’ve been amazing to meet him and star alongside him!”

CELEBRITY INTERVIEW: NADIA NAKAI ON THE MAKING OF HER ALBUM

    • Ntando will appear on the upcoming season of Tropika Island Of Treasure – a journey she has been really looking forward to. “I’ve never been to Curacao but it looks incredible,” she says. “I’m very excited for the challenges that’ll take place on the island during this season of the show and a making sure I’m as prepared as possible for whatever comes my way.”
    • She admits that while she comes across as cool and confident, she’s actually quite an emotional person who cries a lot.
    • She’s a sucker for a man with beautiful teeth! “Your personality could be boring, you could be too short or too tall but if your teeth are beautiful, I’m sold.”

MUSIC INTERVIEW: PRINCE KAYBEE ON RETIRING FLIP FLOPS AND HIS LEGACY!

    • When Ntando was younger, she wanted to become a lawyer. Her career ambitions then changed to wanting to become a teacher – until the entertainment world found her.
    • One of the hardest things she’s had to learn to deal with in her career is how to handle negative comments from people on social media. “Learning to handle that and developing thick skin in the industry is a must.”
    • Already mom to one daughter, she would love to have two more children. “I know it’s going to be two girls because I am only able to make daughters. Don’t ask me how I know but I just know.”

Semi Tee, Miano and Kammu Dee Explain Controversial ‘Abantwana AmaUber’ Lyrics

The House producers behind the hit ‘Abantwana AmaUber’ explain how the song does not promote drug abuse

In fresh South African Music News, Semi Tee, Miano and Kammu Dee have finally cleared the air on why their Amapiano street anthem, Ambantwana AmaUber, does not promote drug abuse.

The song, which has catapulted the collaborative formation into instant stardom thanks to its catchy beat and hook, has also raised some questions about whether or not the lyrical content encourages the use of drugs.

After all, the Abantwana AmaUber song not only brazenly features lyrics that speak about sniffing substances, but has also come to be accompanied by a popular dance routine which depicts the act.

MORE MZANSI MUSIC NEWS: 5 SOUTH AFRICAN SONGS YOU SHOULD BE LISTENING TO!

But according to the hitmakers, the widespread perception that they are promoting the use of drugs couldn’t be further from the truth.

As it turns out, the song is in fact a call to young people to be vigilant against the scourge of drugs haunting township communities.

In an interview on Massive Music, Channel O’s hit music show, the three explained that the song was created to raise awareness and condemn the use of drugs.

Thina sipromoter ukuthi abantu basuke ezintweni ezibhedayo, yang’thola?” (We want people to stay away from bad thing, you know what mean?”, they explained.

“We say no drugs”, they said. “We want the township to change.”

According to the Amapiano scorcher cookers, it’s unfortunate that many people have misinterpreted the song.

The part of the song ‘labantwana ba wrong’ (these kids are wrong) suggests their use of drugs is being condemned, rather than promoted.

New adidas Reflective Alphaedge 4D Arrives

The distinctive 3D printed design now features across the sportswear brands categories

Latest Sneaker Releases: ADIDAS 4D is a data-led design innovation that will eventually create personalised footwear based on specific sports and individual athlete needs

The latest FW19 drop features a black and a white shoe with a new reflective upper

South Africa, 4 th November 2019 – adidas today announces that it expands the 4D range with a new reflective ALPHAEDGE 4D running shoe.

South African Sneaker News, ADIDAS 4D

The distinctive 3D printed design now features across the sportswear brands categories. ADIDAS 4D was first revealed as concept release from FUTURECRAFT – adidas’ innovation incubator – in 2017. The midsole is printed with light and oxygen using Carbon Digital Light Synthesis TM technology pioneered by

Silicon Valley based company, Carbon. The two companies came together to combine years of athlete data with the latest 3D printing technology which allows products to be created at considerable commercial scale. This technology enables huge benefits for both

athletes and consumers so they will feel the future.

ADIDAS 4D was created as a unique solution that can be precisely tuned to respond to the movement patterns, weight and gait of the user.

NEW SNEAKER NEWS: SOUTH AFRICAN SNEAKER BRAND ‘BATHU’ GOES NATIONAL

This means that in the future adidas foresees designing the lattice in a way which suits the movements of a certain sport, as well as personalised based on the data of an individual. The new reflective design on the upper makes this version of ALPHAEDGE stand out even more, especially for training in low light.

The product features are as follows:

ADIDAS 4D

Carbon Digital Light Synthesis TM technology uses digital light projection, oxygen-permeable optics and programmable liquid resins to print high-performance, durable polymeric products. The technology uses data to translate the needs of a performance category, and eventually individual athlete or consumer, with the required movement, cushioning and stability directly into a midsole.

Primeknit upper, with FORGEFIBER

A super-lightweight upper that features a reflective prime knit used on the full upper, for maximum reflectivity, encases your foot in a seamless sock-like fit providing the support and comfort needed during sharp lateral movements and tight turns.

South African Sneaker News, ADIDAS 4D

Each thread is individually constructed millimeter by millimeter with FORGEFIBER – a process using TPU-coated yarn, that maximises performance when stitched at various angles and layers for ultimate strength in motion.

Continental outsole

The Continental rubber outsole draws on 140 years of Continental tire technology and research – with engineered traction zones to support deeper cuts and faster acceleration, regardless of surface terrain or weather.

ALPHAEDGE 4D will be available on adidas ecomm, and at adidas Sandton store only from 16th November 2019 at a retail price of R4999.
