It looks like Emtee wants to leave Ambitiouz Entertainment, the record label he has been signed with since his meteoric rise to fame back in 2015. Bolstering momentum for the quasi-campaign, he has managed to galvanise the support of his legion of fans to get involved with his liberation.
The 26 year old rapper recently initiated the #FreeEmtee hashtag, which was initially thought to be linked to a possible arrest. With more tweets, however, we now understand that the Roll Up hitmaker is simply bringing the spotlight to his ongoing strife.
He allegedly wants out.

And while the Manando hitmaker has yet to really shed light on the issues underlying his discord with the label, it is understood he is livid about several things. For one, Emtee has expressed displeasure with the lack of promotion of his latest projects, particularly DIY 2, his third album.
Compared to his previous offerings, the album’s commercial potential and cultural impact flatlined.
Further, Emtee has often complained about delays in releasing music.
Fans will recall that Emtee maintained his silence when the first mass exodus hit the label, leaving them without A Reece, Benchmarq and Fifi Cooper. The three Hip Hop acts had their dramatic departures from Ambitiouz due to alleged disputes over treatment as worse still, the contractual set up around remuneration.
In 2018, the label lost their biggest act at the time. Beating around the bush, the top selling vocal powerhouse kept things civil during an interview on Metro FM, revealing only that she was in a dispute with the label. “I am grateful to Ambitiouz Entertainment and how far we’ve come”, she said.
There’s no word on where Emtee stands, but he did tweet new booking details.
