He stole the entire 11th season of Idols South Africa with his theatrical antics, and now Somizi Mhlongo is bringing us his own reality television show! Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161) announced on Wednesday that the iconic choreographer will be showcasing his life on Living the Dream with Somizi, due for our screens on the 13th of April at 8:00 PM. A spade is a spade…

As we’ve come to know beyond reasonable doubt during the previous season of Idols South Africa, Somizi pulls no punches in coversation. One cannot help but anticipate more of that. It will be interesting to see how Mhlongo’s No BS policy will translate on this reality show.

Woo shem!

LOL! Somizi’s Instagram account is proof he is the crazy friend you wish had.

The fierce icon’s infectious personality was such a hit with viewers that many of his on air antics, phrases and comments kept viewers in stitches. One such term was ‘woo shem’, which we came to see again later in those looong DStv adverts Somizi is now doing. While we can’t reveal our stance on whether or not we want to hear a ‘woo shem!’ one more time in this lifetime, we know Somgaga will be unleashing his famous Somizi jargon. Keep a glossary.

The fashion

A certain wig clad by the star went viral on Idols, threatening to overshadow the contestants as everyone couldn’t stop talking about it. But whether you love his fashion choices or not, Somizi never fails to give us something visually epic to look at and talk about, compliment or just get petty. Expect drama, fashion wise.

Bling!

Well of course! Failure to bedazzle the masses has never been one of Somizi’s struggles.

He’s hilarious

Who can forget that comment about Thandiswa Mazwai being at Panyaza!?

It’s Somizi

Enough said, seriously. Somizi Mhlongo may have re-emerged in the public eye recently with all the projects he is now part of, but we are actually talking about one of the most respected choreographers the country has ever seen here. His career spans decades of excellence and showmanship. We can go on and on with the factual fluff but know that it’s Somizi has already made the premiere of this reality show a must watch!

Opening up about things to come, Somizi gave hints on what viewers can expect during the debut season in a press release for the show, “Expect to see me living my dream in all its ‘fabulosity’, blood, sweat and bling. What you’ll see is exactly who I am: crazy, pacey, fun, fast, and loud; but more than anything, it’s laughter and inspiration in one pot.”

One to watch this April!
