The Soil lead vocalist Buhle Mda will be taking a hiatus from her performing duties with the acclaimed trio for focus on attending to her ancestral calling. Mda and her group mates took to Facebook to make the announcement. In true style of the group’s much noted harmonies, they belted out an acapella to let fans know that although the singer has to retreat from the public eye to focus on her spiritual calling, she will be back in no time. For now though, fans are in safe hands – more so when Buhle’s temporary replacement takes over soon.

“As Africans, at times we have to answer to greater beings than ourselves”, she opened up. “Hence I will be taking some time out to concentrate on my own ancestral callings. Strength to me. So, from March 2016 I will be absent from all performances with The Soil, but don’t be scared, I’m leaving you in these harmonious hands.”

The group also announced that they will not be taking a break from the biz. Rather, they have opened applications for a temporary replacement. Those of you who fancy themselves good female singers are all invited to give it a shot.

Mda joins a list of local celebrities who have heeded to their spiritual calling. Check that out HERE
