@ The Movies: Tell Me Sweet Something
The star-studded romantic comedy Tell Me Sweet Something is only but a week away and here’s the low down on what to expect. Cava.
The countdown of the much hyped romcom Tell Me Sweet Something movie is underway. The film is due to be in theaters on September 4th and sees director Akin Omotoso draw from the talents of the beautiful Nomzamo Mbatha and hunky model Maps Maponyane.
Set in the heart of the Johannesburg metro, The Maboneng Precinct, the story follows writer/bookstore owner Moratiwa (Nomzamo) and her love interest, Nat (Maps) as they display numerous attempts to woe one another. (Full story here)
The star-studded movie with household names such as Kagiso Lediga, Thembi Seete Thomas Gumede, Mandisa Bardill and Thishiwe Ziqubu should guarantee butts on seats on the first week of release.
The movie afforded Nomzamo her first stab at leading lady and she slayed. Responsible for driving the emotional roller coaster of the film, Nomzamo managed to connect with the audience while stand up comedians Kagiso and Thomas were tasked with providing the comic relief in the movie.
Speaking about her chemistry with leading man, Nomzamo had nothing but praise for Maps. “I’m glad that is evident in the movie. Maps is so talented and his drive pushes me to work harder at my own craft. I’ve never seen anyone pay so much attention to detail like Maps does and his the most humble person you can ever come across. He’s a great FRIEND” she explains.
On the flip side, Maps’ role as leading man in a romantic comedy had all the ingredients right up to the shirtless scenes. We were able to count at least 5 separate shot of him without a shirt on. So ladies and gents, that’s one reason you can go see the movie.
Asked about the preparation that went into making the movie, Maps revealed that more than just the perfecting of acting scenes was done to prepare for the movie. “We had a whole bunch of workshops for the entire cast, we had eating plans everyday and gym programs so that we can be fit to give out the best performance. I also got to meet some pretty awesome actors like Lionel Newton who also came through to give us some advice” Maps declares.
Director Akin Omotoso confesses that he intentionally tried to capture great shots while filming the movie. “I just felt like we must showcase the beauty of the city because too many times the ugly side of the city is shown. Maboneng, Braamfontein, Zoo Lake…everyday of the year Jo’burgers are going to these places, why don’t we see it on screen?” he remarks.
In the end, after a lot of toiling around, steamy intimate scene and messy rejection, the two lovebirds find their way into each others arms in a picture cast with a sunset background, locking lips until Jesus’ second coming.

Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are in for a treat. Disney+ has announced that 1 February marks the arrival of Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” The blockbuster will be joining 16 other on the streaming platform.
ABOUT THE MOVIE
Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba) fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death.
As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda. Introducing Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor, ruler of a hidden undersea nation, the film also stars Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena and Alex Livinalli.
“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” directed by Ryan Coogler and produced by Kevin Feige and Nate Moore, is now playing in theaters.

They are one of South Africa’s most revered music duos.
Their discography packs both blockbuster club bangers and lush delights for lovers of House with a transcendental African sonic flair. And the explosive fallout of Black Motion, which has been splashed across the internet long before reaching the courts, has shocked many.
Loved for their electrifying live performances and awe-inspiring chemistry, Mörda and Smol have always seemed like musical soulmates. But that relationship seems to have reached a bitter end.
In 2022, rumours of their reported split triggered a frenzy on the internet. Following the uproar, the group’s members Bongani Mohosana, who now goes as Mörda, and Smol (real name Roy Thabo Mabogwane), jointly calmed fears that they had fallen out.
It had been said the break would be temporary, as Mörda moved to focus on the release of his solo studio album.
Far from it, it now seems. The parties have escalated things to court.
According to reports, Black Motions have confirmed that they had pressed charges against Mörda for alleged housebreaking and theft.
A court order by the High Court in Gauteng posted on social media has ordered Morda to “restore possession of a recording studio apparatus” to the group by 13 January, at 5pm.
Black Motion shared snaps of the alleged damage caused by Morda – a broken door and stolen equipment.

It looks like we won’t be getting a new Black Motion album with Mörda anytime soon.
