A Capsule To Support Women Through Their Workouts Is Here
Published
1 year agoon

adidas has introduced a capsule fitness collection designed to support women from sunrise yoga to happy hour HIIT and all the moments in between.
Inspired by adidas’ global network of female athletes, the Statement Collection offers stand-out looks curated for women who take a diverse approach to training and demand performance wear as versatile as they are.
More than 15 complimentary pieces feature in the collection – including bras, tights, jackets, footwear and accessories, which come together to inspire bold training looks from street to studio. Floral camo and geometric prints inspired by Stella McCartney feature dynamic designs and cooling fabrics for maximum style and performance, whatever the workout.
The Statement Collection is built around adidas’ three sports bras “All Me”, “Don’t Rest” and “Stronger For It”. Each is engineered to support a range of different body types and training activities, from low to high intensity.
ALL ME BRA
- Perfect support for smaller cup sizes
- Go-to for comfort & freedom of movement
- Different strap styles and removable padding to keep athletes covered and dry
DON’T REST BRA
- Mid-level compression supports up to C cup bra sizes
- Anti-bounce support delivers a secure feel
- Classic, athletic racerback silhouette
STRONGER FOR IT BRA
- High-level support system also for large cup bra sizes
- Built-in shape limits bounce during athlete’s hardest workouts
- Adjustable and convertible straps for customized styling
The curation of the collection was inspired by Dua Lipa, Karlie Kloss, Shay Mitchell, Hannah Bronfman and Garbiñe Muguruza. As women who take different approaches to working up a sweat, their insights and ideas informed a versatile selection of statement pieces which come together as a distinctive workout wardrobe designed to unleash creativity.

It appears the festive spirit of giving is upon us, and South African fashion designer David Tlale is looking to make one lucky bride’s dreams come true.
The acclaimed fashion dab hands is joining forces with Tastic Rice to give away an awe inspiring traditional wedding dress, which was showcased as part of his SS20 Collection at AFI Fashion Week in Johannesburg.

The announcement and showcase for the magical dress was attended by a bevy of notable guests, who were clad in their vibrant heritage themed garb. Spotted were Mthoko ‘Swenka’, Tracy Hlophe, Dj Sithelo who got the party going after the formal proceedings were over
The dress was worn by Zama Gcaba, who is also known as ‘Black Barbie’. The menu for this auspicious day was curated by Chef Lenstwe who ensured the guests had a proper feast.
The print from which the dress is made is inspired by a uniquely South African story of heritage and a celebration of our various cultures. “I created the dress with the bride that would win it in mind. I wanted to capture the essence of the meeting of two families and the merging of their heritage, and the spirit of celebration that surrounds the wedding day” said David Tlale.
Adding, “Every bride deserves a couture moment and I’m excited to make one special bride’s dreams come to life,” Tlale continues.
The dress was showcased as part of a collection that pays homage to David’s recently deceased mother, and fuses elements of the rice brand’s Heritage campaign that rolled out during the month of September.
The competition will be run across national and regional radio as well as social media from October, and the winner will be announced in December 2019.

The only thing better than securing a clean pair of brand new kicks is getting a dope set that is authentically South African.
Being clad in local innovation isn’t just cool as a political statement; but also because our designers are kicking ass. One such brand is Bathu, who are looking into disrupting and elevating the current local landscape this summer.
The South African sneaker brand is scaling their business to avail their sneakers nationally, and it’s a first.

Conceptualised and established in the streets of Alexandra, Johannesburg, in 2015, Bathu has experienced exponential commercial growth and cultural value. From moving their drops in the streets to the successful launch of four major retail stores throughout the country.
The #YamaSupa is a first from Bathu and draws inspiration from a multitude of South African cultures. With the creative mojo ‘Abafana be style, abo sisi bama weave, wonke ama kasi alles, this is for you.’
The Bathu architects are elated about this next move.

Adding, “We are extremely excited to be bringing something that we hope will be an advocate for change in the current worldview of locally produced brands, also allowing for the nation a glimpse into our daily lives. People should be on the lookout for us and what we have in store this season”
