FIRST LOOK: AKA’s Pics For ‘Fela In Versace’ Visuals Are Rich AF

AKA on Wednesday thrilled fans with lush previews of his over the top Fela In Music shot

AKA once again broke his portion of the web when on Wednesday he unveiled behind the scenes snaps of his Fela In Versace music shoot.

SUPAMEGA thrilled fans with a crisp first look into the looming and lush visuals for Fela in Versace, the latest single to emerge from his first-day-Gold-selling third and final album, Touch My Blood. There will be no solo studio albums after that, and Touch My Blood has been a solid wrap to that journey.

Photographed by Austen Malema, the pics see AKA clad in a half-unbuttoned R25 000 Cornici Balletto print shirt, making his new blonde box fade pop. He launched the new colour locks last week to much fanfare and furore. The man knows how to capture headlines, we’ll give him that!

ALBUM REVIEW: AKA – TOUCH MY BLOOD IS HERE

Featuring Kiddomant, Fela in Versace is a mid-tempo bop which finds AKA humming soulfully and belting through the synthetic autotune over afrobeat flavoured 808 and clean electric guitar. Unlike most of recent bangers, the single is thin on lyrical and more focused on a smooth vibe.

Effectively, this is the 5th single from Touch My Blood.

Fans Are Wondering Why Beyoncé Snubbed SA On Her Instagram

Looks like the South African beyhive have a few bones to pick with their Queen.

It’s been just days after many of Beyoncé’s fans complained about her performance being limited to just 25 minutes for those who did not make it to the Global Citizen Concert at FNB Stadium, where she delighted attendees with her On The Run set alongside Jay Z.

Yet on Monday, the beyhive took to social media to question the America superstar’s decision not to post anything, at all, about her stay in the country.

Best Of Apple 2018 List: Here Are Biggest South African Songs

Drizzy may have been the biggest international artist in 2018. But as far as streaming is concerned, Lady Zamar, Nasty C, Kwesta and more, aren’t far behind. Here’s the full list

Biggest Apple Music songs 2018 South Africa

Nasty C, Lady Zamar, Shekhinah, Kwesta and AKA were amongst the most streamed South African artists in 2018 on Apple Music.

The global digital music streaming platform has unveiled its year-end music charts for an accurate glimpse into the best performing artists, songs and albums from the previous fiscal.

And while Drake had the biggest year out of any artist both global and in South Africa, the list also reveals which local acts achieved the best sales on the platform.

Nasty C appears on Apple Music’s Top 100 biggest song with Particula – a collaborative bop in which he slaps alongside Major Lazor and DJ Maphorisa. Despite not making it to the top of MTV’s controversial Hottest MCs list, there’s no lack of evidence that the young rapper had the biggest year of his massively successful career to date.

Having dropped his critically acclaimed sophomore studio album Strings & Bling earlier this year, Nasty C’s moves included a deal to further his global footprint with Universal Music and, amongst other highlights, his continued clothing deal with Sportscene.

Lady Zamar’s debut album, King Zamar, instantly became one of the biggest albums when it hit the shelves back in 2017.

Two years after its premiere, the 18 track project continues to slap. This year, King Zamar sustained its relevance as Zamar continued churning out scorchers. Unsurprisingly. the best performing out of those is ‘Collide‘, which kept the songstress on top of the charts throughout 2018. Collide is the 16th biggest song overall on the list, the second biggest song with a South African artist, as well as the biggest South African song by a female artist.

Kwesta’s Spirit proved itself to be taking after its older sibling, Ngud, is crafting its own nook of timelessness in the streets. The 2017 scorcher, featuring Wale, made waves all the way into 2018, where it became the 22nd biggest song on Apple Music. The same can be said for Shekhinah’s Suited. Taken from her debut album Rose Gold, Suited has remained a big commercial success more two years after its release.

There’s further proof that the biggest summer smashes have a lifespan that exceeds two years on this chart. People streamed Sun El Musician’s Akanamali well into 2018, despite the song has been quite a strong contender for song of the year the year prior.

Other entries include Distruction Boyz with Omunye, Mlindo with AmaBlesser and amongst others, AKA’s Fela in Versace. The full list is below;
