As the highly anticipated premiere of new DStv channel 1 Magic on the 29th of February edges closer, the new M-Net channel that will be replacing Vuzu Amp with a ‘new era’ of entertainment, has been beefing up the build-up with new TV show announcements. In line with the promise of delivering the best of local and international offerings, 1 Magic is adding two new local shows to their schedule; Khethomdandayo and Unmarried.
Set to debut on channel 103 on Friday, February 2nd, Kheth’Omthandayo is a Siyabonga Radebe hosted dating show that will see an eligible bachelor or bachelorette matched up with four potential love interest who must jump through different hoops to earn their way to a date.
It’s a bit more work than swiping around on Tinder, but Hey!
The long and short of it is that the ‘suitor’ will have to bring their A game and prove that they are worthy of a date with the potential love interest by tossing a good pitch to the target of their affection, their family and their friends.
Starting to sound like that other dating show? Not entirely. Hear us out.
The show will consist of three challenges. In the first, all four suitors will be grilled by a panel. The love interest, at this point unknown to the suitors, will also be part of the panel. One suitor will bite the dust after this session.
The other three will be eliminated in the next challenge. Here, the remaining suitors must impress a family member by undertaking various tasks which test everything from physical agility to emotional intelligence. In the end, only one bachelor/bachelorette will be left…
Then there’s Unmarried: A “fun, fresh and sexy new drama about the lives of three young female friends living in Johannesburg”, the channel reveals in a press statement. The show will chronicle their lives as they navigate the city while dealing with pressures of juggling marriage, motherhood, relationships, and careers.
Starring amongst others Renate Stuurman, Keke Mphuti, Thembisa Mdoda, Fezile Makhanya, Nyanizo Dzedze and Steve Marc, Unmarried will premiere on February 2nd at 7:30.
