There’s a refreshing feeling about going out to catch an authenticly South African film. Dynamics of the experience itself can be as interesting as the film itself. For one, key aspects of the storyline can be intimately relatable for you.
Vaya, indeed proudly one of our own, kicks off in the cinemas on Friday, October 27th.
From the same team that brought to life recent South Africa flicks Material and Tell Me Sweet Something, Vaya is another Akin Omotoso directed film chronicling the journeys of three strangers as they head out to Johannesburg on individual quests.
Each with a mission, they aboard a train bound for Johannesburg in hopes that family will help them settle and navigate the big city.
But when they are betrayed by the very people whose protection they sought, they find themselves trapped in the city.
Vaya interweaves three separate plots that intersect and intertwine in a gripping, deeply moving and often funny narrative about struggling for survival and dignity in the city.
