The upcoming South African Music Awards have banged out a shortlist of artists who could be walking away with the much coveted Record Of The Year gong.
The likes of AKA, Kwesta, Nasty C and Amanda Black will be vying for voters affections as they surely hope to snatch the night’s top trophy at the 23rd annual event, set to be broadcast live on SABC 1 on May 27th, 2017.
Even as the credibility of local award shows continues to come under fire thanks to recent allegations from local artists and politicians alleging that record labels buy awards, the 23rd South African Music Awards continue business as usual.
Dj Black Coffee’s two jams – Come With Me featuring Mque and Your Eyes both appear on the list, making him the only artist to have two songs competing for the Record Of The Year award.
Nasty C now leads the number of nominations with seven, followed by Kwesta with six and newcomer fave Amanda Black with five.
