10 Fresh Celeb HairCuts (And Their Names) For Your Festive Look!

Take a look at these 10 fresh male celebrity haircuts for you to steal for the festive season, as well as your smashing 2017 look!

We’ve already done Celebrity Hairstyles to steal for your festive look for the girls, it’s only natural that we keep things moving and dish out the male version.

Grooming and hair care is just as important to guys as it is for women, contrary to popular, albeit misguided perceptions. Here are 10 celebs who are currently rocking the freshest hair cuts. Take note of the names to tell your barber!

CELEBRITY: KWESTA

HAIR CUT:  DYED FADED TWIST

The blonde highlight hair cut was a popular style in 2016, and appears to be moving with us into 2017! Thanks to Kanye West and Frank Ocean, who are now spotting light brown locks, we are betting that trendy boys will opt to give their hair some vibrant colour in the summer.

As fly as this hair cut looks though, hair dye can course significant damage. Because of the harsh colouring chemicals, the dye can lead to hair breakage. Proper care is required.

CELEBRITY: NASTY C

HAIR CUT: FADED TWIST

This hair cut highlights clean edges and accentuates the richness of the hair at the centre of the head. Because of that, the faded twist can actually encourage hair growth in the areas of the head where the hair is kept, while adding an element of swag because of the soft cut on the side. Almost anyone can look good in faded twists, if they are willing to wake up early to make sure the hair looks neat for the rest of the day.

CELEBRITY: DAVID TLALE

HAIR CUT: POMPADOUR

Much like the legendary South African fashion designer himself, the pompadour hair cut requires some guts to 1) attempt and 2) pull off. It’s a classic hairstyle and can elevate a man’s debonair look with some spunk and flair. This one requires constant maintenance and care. If you opt in, beef up the budget for frequent visits to hair salon.

CELBRITY: PRINCE KAYBEE

HAIR CUT: TAPERED LONG DREADLOCKS

There’s a misguided perception that dreadlocks are inherently unhygienic, unprofessional and a tad difficult to maintain. All those remedial home treatments that involve a famous beverage and eggs? Lies. Stars like Prince Kaybee make dreadlocks look just as sexy, clean and dapper as any other hair cut. As you can see with his version, you can play around with the locks to switch your looks in many ways.

CELEBRITY: SAUDI

HAIR CUT: DYED DREADLOCKS

But if ‘professionalism’ isn’t what you are pursuing, you can join the likes of Ambitious Entertainment youngins Saudi in dying your dreadlocks. He’s had them turned red, before taking the plunge and joining the blonde fad. Refer to Kwesta’s section about our reservations on excessive dye without a good treatment routine before texting your barber on what’s next.

CELEBRITY: YANGA

HAIR CUT: PLAITED BRAIDS

Never one to shy away from experimenting with the cuts, the Mantshingilane hitmaker recently plaited his trademark braids into stylish patterned corn rows that travel along his scalp to form clean ponytails at the back. It’s a pretty fly haircut, but you will have to have the facial structure and hairline to pull it off. Sorry for the honesty.

CELEBRITY: DASH MKHATHINI

HAIR CUT: SOFT BOX FADE

He’s now considered one of the country’s most stylish up and coming schlebs, but it wasn’t that long ago that the one third of Dreamteam suffered some backlash over his polished quiff. But now that the masses have become used to his ways, it’s quite clear that his hair cuts are just as important to him as his garments. These days Dash has toned things down to a softer and more structured box fade.

CELEBRITY: L TIDO

HAIR CUT: SOFT TWIST DREADLOCKS

Growing dreadlocks is not for the faint hearted. But for the likes of L-Tido, why not maintain the upkeep when the benefits of being able to explore different styling methods will be available for you later?

CELEBRITY: CASSPER NYOVEST

HAIR CUT: CLEAN SHORT HAIR CUT – “THE SOFT BRUSH”

Let’s be honest – this is a chiskop. It’s a good chiskop. It’s still a chiskop, which everyone seems pretty fond of around here.

Abuti Fill Up famously ditched his long enduring trademark ponytail and opted for a fresh, simple and clean short hair cut earlier this one. Although not exactly revolutionary, this is by far the simplest way to look your best at good value for money.

CELEBRITY: SHANE EAGLE

HAIR CUT: SOFT TAPERED TWISTS

On his latest track Top Floor, Eagle mentions something about growing his hair as a tell tale sign of his artistic maturity. He is different now. It’s true. He burst into the scene following his appearance on popular television show The Hustle in 2015, where he was spotting a simple short hair cut like the one Cassper is currently rocking. But as would trends dictate, he is now going down the longer locks twist route, giving him the rare ability to pull his hair over his eyes.

Africa’s trendiest hairstyling competition-Sofn’free Hair Xperts Masters Challenge- is back with bigger, inventive and more extravagant highlights this year. Seeking the most innovative talent in South Africa, the hunt for Mzansi’s hair genius has begun.

Trailblazers in the hair industry across provinces have a chance to submit their entries from today until September 16th for a spot in the contest. “This is the fourth year the competition has been running and it has created a huge platform for hairstylists to showcase their talent, gain exposure and learn more about the art of hairstyling. Not only does it give hairstylists an opportunity to grow their skills, it also positively contributes to professionalising their natural gifts and nurtures their portfolios,” explained Sofn’free Brand Manager Noeleen Burger.

Participants can anticipate more challenging tasks, from hair trends to hair colours while blending in their unique touch. The competition is divided into two segments which is the HairXperts Main Competition which is for already practising stylists (18 years and older) and YoungXperts which is open to student stylists between the ages of 16 and 26.

“We expect more entries this year, and as usual, we anticipate seeing the greatest hair fashion talent in South Africa. Stylists will go head to head to showcase their technical skills in relaxing different types of hair, while flaunting their styling creativity to create an overall look that would leave the judges and the audience in awe. It is always a super exciting affair,” enthused Burger.

The top 18 contestants will be announced on September 24th, which will be followed by a style off leading to the top 8 finalists. With R250 000 up for grabs, who will be the next Ultimate Sofn’free HairXperts Master?
