Avid Kaizer Chiefs supporters may have welcomed great news that their long time goalie – Itumeleng Khune – who took the team for a ride on a back and forth, is back on board as the new season kicks off. However according to Sunday World, Khune’s salary has taken a 20% plunge from the previous season. We are now finding out through the publication’s good authority that the Amakhosi player was reportedly bagging a staggering R32 500,00 a month.
This chop in wages comes amid rumours that he had been trying to get the Soweto giants to pay him a whopping R800 000 a month, which would have easily seen him boasting the title of being one of the country’s highest paid players of all time.
That did not happen.
Instead, he ducked apparent unemployment and settled because although he is a talented goal keeper, he did not play his cards right.
