News fresh out of the oven, Steve Komphela has finally been unveiled as the new Kaizer Chiefs head coach. Komphela resigned as the Maritzburg United coach on Monday and says he is happy to finally reunite with the Kaizer Chiefs family having been there as a player.
In uncharacteristic fashion, Komphela confessed how daunting the task that lay ahead of him was. “This is quite scary. From the bottom of my heart I wish to thank the chairman a lot,” he said. “This is a unique opportunity. It’s historic and I’m very excited, he continued.
Kaizer Chiefs are fresh from a record breaking season, amassing 69 points in 30 games in the league. Steve Komphela made mention of the feat, saying that he has to “acknowledge the success of the previous season … it was unbelievable.
Steve Komphela signed a three year contract with the Naturena based club and will have to restore morale and build a winning team after the exodus of experienced players.
